Gordon Richard Nuttall is an Australian former politician who represented Sandgate in the Queensland Parliament from 1992 to 2006. He was a member of the Labor Party and served as a minister in the Beattie Ministry from 2001 to 2005. In 2009 he was found guilty of corruptly receiving secret commissions during his time in office and jailed for seven years. In 2010,he was found guilty of five charges of official corruption and five charges of perjury and,ultimately,jailed for an additional seven years,the longest jail term for corruption handed to a Commonwealth politician. Elected as a Nationals member of the Western Australian Legislative Council at the 2021 Western Australian state election,he resigned from the party on 3 December 2021 after being charged with child sex offences,and was ultimately disqualified on 28 August 2023 after being convicted. He was the first person since John Marquis Hopkins in 1910 to be removed in this way.
