The Meet al-Attar shooting was a mass shooting that occurred in Meet al-Attar a village near Banha, Egypt on 21 August 2013, when Omar Abdul Razeq Abdullah Rifai, a 28-year-old unemployed poultry dealer and ex-convict who was recently released from his sentence after his involvement in the death of 23 people in 2008 over a family feud, fatally shot 15 people and possibly wounded several others, using an AKMS assault rifle, before being shot dead by villagers himself. In total, he killed 38 people within the span of 5 years.

The Gulf Cooperation Council Athletics Championship is a biennial international athletics competition between athletes from nations within the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. It was first held in 1986.

A coup d'état took place in Sudan in the late afternoon on 11 April 2019, when President Omar al-Bashir was overthrown by the Sudanese Armed Forces after popular protests demanded his departure. At that time, the army, led by Ahmed Awad Ibn Auf, toppled the government and National Legislature and declared a state of emergency in the country for a period of 3 months, followed by a transitional period of two years before an agreement was reached later.

A Love Crime an Egyptian film released on January 1, 1955. The film is directed by Atef Salem, features a screenplay by Mahmoud Sobhy based on the novel by Amin Yousseff Ghurab, and stars Mariam Fakhr Eddine, Emad Hamdy, Hind Rostom, and Salah Mansour. The protagonist, a lawyer named Jalal, loses an important case and believes his wife's negligence is the reason. He launches into an affair with his beautiful client, who is murdered, leaving the wife as a suspect.

<i>The Mamelukes</i> 1965 film

The Mamelukes is a 1965 Egyptian epic film starring Omar Sharif, Nabila Ebeid and Emad Hamdy. It is directed by Atef Salem, while it is written by Mohammed Mostafa Samy and Abdul Hai Adib. The film was produced by Helmy Rafla for Al Qahera Cinema and distributed by El Sharq Distribution.
