The Ministry of Resilience and Preparedness (Danish : Ministeriet for Samfundssikkerhed og Beredskab) is a ministry in the Kingdom of Denmark which was established on 29 August 2024. It is generally responsible for public security and civil defence, encompassing areas such as cyber security, and disaster prevention and emergency management.
The ministry was presented on 28 August 2024, [1] as part of the following day's cabinet reshuffle in the Frederiksen II Cabinet, where Torsten Schack Pedersen was appointed as Minister of Resilience and Preparedness. [2] Division Manager in the Ministry of Justice, Morten Duus-Larsen, was appointed acting permanent secretary in the ministry. [3] On December 10, Lisbet Zilmer-Johns was appointed permanent secretary, [4] and Morten Duus-Larsen moved to the Danish Security and Intelligence Service as Director of Legal Affairs. [5]
The ministry's areas of responsibility include coordination of national crisis control, national operative staff, fire and rescue services, coastal rescue service, 112 call centres, cyber security, security incidents regarding critical infrastructure at sea and cases concerning the disposal of radioactive waste. Claus Hjort Frederiksen is a Danish politician of the Venstre party, who served as the Danish Minister for Defence from 2016 to 2019, and as Minister for Finance from 2015 to 2016, having previously served in that position from 2009 to 2011, as member of the first Løkke Rasmussen Cabinet. From 2001 to 2009, he was Minister of Employment in the first, second, and third cabinets of Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

The Frederiksen I Cabinet took office on 27 June 2019 and succeeded the Lars Løkke Rasmussen III Cabinet following the 2019 Danish general election. The Permanent Secretary of State to the Prime Minister's Office is the most senior civil servant in Denmark and the departmental head of the Prime Minister's Office. The person is the senior policy adviser to the prime minister and the Cabinet, and as the pre-eminent civil servant in the Danish central administration, the postholder serves as the symbolic head of the entire civil service. Since 1913, the permanent secretary has served concurrently as the cabinet secretary of the Council of State, the privy council of Denmark. The role is currently occupied by Barbara Bertelsen.
