Squadron Leader Minty Aggarwal YSM is an IAF fighter controller.
Aggarwal was commissioned in the logistics branch of the IAF as a flying officer on 18 June 2011, holding a short-service commission. [1] She was promoted to flight lieutenant on 18 June 2013 and to squadron leader on 18 June 2017. [2]
She was part of the team that guided India’s air defence during the 2019 India–Pakistan border skirmishes, where she witnessed a PAF F-16 Fighting Falcon being shot down. In August 2019, she was awarded the Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) by President Ram Nath Kovind, becoming the first woman to receive it. [3] [4] [5]
The Yudh Seva Medal is one of India's military decorations for distinguished service during wartime. It is awarded for a high degree of distinguished service in an operational context, which includes times of war, conflict, or hostilities and may be awarded posthumously.
Admiral Arun Prakash, PVSM, AVSM, VrC, VSM is a former Flag Officer of the Indian Navy. He served as the Chief of the Naval Staff from 31 July 2004 to 31 October 2006 and as the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee from 31 January 2005 to 31 October 2006. Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, ADC is a retired general officer of the Indian Army who served as 39th Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS). He assumed office on 1 June 2018 following the retirement of Lieutenant General Sarath Chand, and retired on 31 August 2019. He retired on 30 September 2021 and was succeeded by Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari.
