Miss Trans Pakistan is a pageant for the trans women of Pakistan founded by Sonia Ahmed. [1] [2] It is part of the Miss Pakistan World pageant.

History

In 2020, during COVID-19, the Miss Pakistan World pageant moved from Toronto Canada to Lahore, Pakistan. The first Miss Pakistan World crowned in Pakistan [3] in August 2020 [4] was Areej Chaudhary.This allowed the pageant to expand to allow trans women to become part of Pakistan's pageantry.

The pageant [5] brought attention to the plight [6] of trans women in Pakistan through their titleholders. [7] The news of the crowning of the first Miss Trans Pakistan was the most read news in Pakistan and came in the top ten news [8] of the year in Pakistan's leading English newspaper [9] Dawn.

On 23 May 2021, Miss Pakistan World [10] announced that it would allow trans women to compete in a separate pageant called Miss Trans Pakistan. [11] On 23 May 2021, [12] the first Miss Trans Pakistan was announced. The crowning ceremony took place in Lahore, Pakistan on 25 May 2021. [13]

Shyraa Roy [14] [15] became the first trans woman to win the Miss Trans Pakistan 2021 title. [16] [17]

On Jan 31, 2022, the crowning ceremony of Miss Pakistan was held in a much bigger way and new titles [18] were introduced. [19] [20]

On May 31, 2023, the next transgender girl crowned by Areej Chaudhary on the soil of Pakistan was Alina Khan. [21] Khan was known for her role in the movie Joyland. [22] [23] [24] [25] [26] [27] [28]

Anzhelika Rublevska Tahir is a Pakistani-Ukrainian actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was the winner of Miss Pakistan World 2015 and was sent to Miss Earth 2016 to represent Pakistan. In 2016, she entered the Pakistani film industry.

Areej Chaudhary is a Pakistani actress and beauty queen. She is the winner of Miss Pakistan World 2020 and was sent to Miss Earth 2020 virtually to represent Pakistan, Miss Eco International and Miss Global International. She is also a psychologist by profession. She was the first girl from Pakistan who was directly chosen for beauty pageants from the soil of Pakistan.

Alina Khan is a Pakistani actress known for her lead roles in the short film Darling in 2019 and the feature film Joyland in 2022. She is the first transgender person to have a lead role in a major Pakistani film. In May 2023, she was crowned Miss Trans Pakistan 2023 in Lahore, Pakistan.

Miss Grand Pakistan is a national beauty pageant title awarded to Pakistan representatives competing at the Miss Grand International contest. The title was first mentioned in 2013 when the winner of Miss Pakistan World 2013 was assigned to represent the country at the inaugural edition of Miss Grand International in Thailand, and was placed among the top 20 finalists, which was also considered the highest and only placement obtained by Pakistani candidates at the mentioned international tournament.

Miss Pakistan Universal is a national beauty pageant title awarded to Pakistani representatives competing at the various international contests like Miss Aura International, Miss Planet and Miss Elite.

Marina Machete Reis is a Portuguese model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Portugal 2023. She is the first Portuguese openly transgender woman to participate in the Miss Universe contest. She represented Portugal at the Miss Universe 2023 pageant in El Salvador and finished as a top 20 semifinalist, becoming the first openly trans woman to place. She is the second openly trans woman to compete in Miss Universe in 2023 after Rikkie Kollé of Netherlands. She also won the Most Confident Award at the competition.
