Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is run by the United States–based Miss Universe Organization. It is one of the most watched pageants in the world with an estimated audience of over 500 million viewers in over 190 territories. Along with Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth, Miss Universe is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants.
Angela Visser is a Dutch actress, model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 1989. She was the first Dutch woman to win the title of the Miss Universe in 1989. Visser, who had previously worked as a model and beautician, was crowned Miss Holland in August 1988.
Miss Universe 1997, the 46th Miss Universe pageant, was held on May 16, 1997, at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida, United States. At the event's conclusion, Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico was crowned Miss Universe by outgoing titleholder Michelle McLean of Namibia. Seventy-nine contestants competed in the pageant.
Miss Universe 1976, the 25th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 11 July 1976 at the Lee Theatre in Hong Kong. Rina Mor of Israel was crowned by Anne Marie Pohtamo of Finland. This was the first time that an Israeli has won the competition. It was the first time in the pageant's history that the event was held in Hong Kong.

Miss Malaysia Universe 2006, the 40th edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held on 19 April 2006 at Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Melissa Tan of Malacca was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Angela Gan of Sabah at the end of the event. She then represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 2006 pageant in Los Angeles, United States.
Francisca Luhong James is a Malaysian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2020. She represents her country at Miss Universe 2020, where she ended up did not make it into the Top 21 semi-finalist, Her journey was marked in the “50 years of unplacement” for Malaysia in Miss Universe history since Josephine Lena Wong in 1970.
