Mitchell Saron (December 6, 2000) is a Filipino American right-handed sabre fencer. He is representing the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, in the Men's sabre and Men's team sabre on July 27 and 31, 2024.

Early life

Saron was born on December 6, 2000, and is Filipino-American and Jewish. [1] [2] His hometown is Ridgewood, New Jersey. [1]

Education

Saron attended Ridgewood High School. [3] He studied economics at Harvard University and graduated in 2023. [4] [1] [5]

Fencing

In 2019, Saron won a gold medal in the team portion of the National Champion for the U.S. National Championships. [4] In 2023, he was 14th at the Madrid Men's Sabre World Cup. [6]

In 2024, Saron won a gold medal for the Men's Saber World Cup in the team's portion while he was representing Team USA.

Saron will represent the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, in the Men's sabre and Men's team sabre on July 27 and 31, 2024. [7] [1]

Katharine (Kat) Holmes is an American fencer. She competed in the women's épée event at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. She was a world champion in the women’s epee team event, which was the first World Championship medal won by an American women’s epee team. Holmes anchored the team, defeating Korea in overtime in the finals. She also anchored the United States women’s epee team to its first World Cup gold medal, defeating Russia in overtime in the finals. She was the back-to-back gold medalist in both the individual and team events at the Pan American Games in Lima in 2019 and Toronto in 2015. For the second straight time, Paris 2024 witnessed both men and women fence against each other in the individual and team events held in all three weapons.

Maia Mei Weintraub is an American Olympic foil fencer. She won the 2019 and 2023 USA Fencing Women's Foil National Championships, was ranked second in the world in 2021 in women's foil in the juniors, and won the 2022 NCAA national women's foil championship. Weintraub represented the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Women's team foil, where she won a gold medal.

Lauren Scruggs is an American left-handed foil fencer. Scruggs won a silver medal in women's individual foil at the 2024 Summer Olympics, making her the first Black American woman to win an individual fencing medal. She also won a gold medal in women's team foil at the same Olympics, along with Lee Kiefer, Jackie Dubrovich, and Maia Weintraub. Scruggs competes for the Harvard Crimson team in collegiate fencing. She has won an NCAA championship and is one of two black fencers from the United States to have won an individual world championship.

Colin Heathcock is an American right-handed sabre fencer. He represented the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
