The World Cadets and Juniors Fencing Championships are an annual international fencing competition held by the International Fencing Federation. [1]

Contents

History

Junior World Fencing Championships for athletes up to 20 years old. Also at the same time and venue as the Cadet World Fencing Championships held for athletes up to 17 years old.

The first Junior World Fencing Championships were held in Nîmes, France in 1950. Team events have been held since 1998. Women compete in foil since 1955, in épée since 1989, and in sabre since 1999.

The first Cadet World Fencing Championships were held in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1987 (Cadets without team events).

Cadet World Fencing Championships and Junior World Fencing Championships were held in two different countries from 1987 to 1992. They have been held simultaneously in one country since 1993.

Share bronze medals in individuals events awarded from 1991.

Fencing is a combat sport that features sword fighting. The three disciplines of modern fencing are the foil, the épée, and the sabre ; each discipline uses a different kind of blade, which shares the same name, and employs its own rules. The World Fencing Championships is an annual competition in fencing organized by the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime. Contestants may participate in foil, épée, and sabre events.

The 2007 World Juniors and Cadets Fencing Championships was held in Belek, Antalya, Turkey between April 10 to April 18, 2007. The event, an organization of the Federation Internationale d'Escrime (FIE), was carried out by the Turkish Fencing Federation (TEF). Junior and cadet fencers from 53 countries competed in the categories foil, épée and sabre in the championship. Russia was the most successful nation, followed by Ukraine and Italy.

Blade Club (Fencing) Singapore is a commercial fencing club founded 2005 by Henry Koh, an ex-National fencer of Singapore. The club teaches fencing students at all levels, from beginner to advanced fencing in group or individual lesson formats. According to the Club website, the mission of the Blade Club is to help develop fencing in Singapore, focusing on helping students to learn fencing well and to achieve success in competitive fencing. Blade Club has classes for all three weapons in fencing: foil, epee, and sabre. The Club is located along Bukit Timah Road, Singapore.

Fencing competitions at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore consisted of three Cadet Male individual events, three Cadet Female individual events and one team event including both genders and all 3 weapons: épée, foil and saber. 78 fencers from 36 nations were competing. The venue was located at the International Convention Centre (ICC).

Dublin University Fencing Club (DUFC) is the fencing club of Trinity College Dublin, located in Dublin, Ireland. The club caters for foil, épée and sabre. Its members are students, alumni and staff from Trinity College with a small amount of visiting fencers from other clubs.

The 2022 European Cadets and Juniors Fencing Championships (26th) took place in Novi Sad, Serbia, from 26 February to 7 March 2022 and organised by European Fencing Confederation. On 2 March, and following the IOC recommendations, that FIE Executive Committee decided not to invite or allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in FIE competitions until further notice.

The 2022 Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships took place from 2 to 10 April 2022 in Dubai, UAE. The opening ceremony was held on 3 April 2022.

The Ukrainian Fencing Federation commonly known by the acronym NFFU, established in 1992, is the governing body of Ukrainian fencing. Through 2022, Ukrainian fencers won 230 medals combined in the Olympic Games, World championships, and European championships.
