Tanzania,officially the United Republic of Tanzania,is a country in East Africa within the African Great Lakes region. It is bordered by Uganda to the northwest;Kenya to the northeast;the Indian Ocean to the east;Mozambique and Malawi to the south;Zambia to the southwest;and Rwanda,Burundi,and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Mount Kilimanjaro,Africa's highest mountain,is in northeastern Tanzania. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
Amani Abeid Karume is a Tanzanian politician,the former president of Zanzibar. He held the office from 8 November 2000 to 3 November 2010. He is the son of Zanzibar's first president,Abeid Karume,and a member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party.
Ali Mohamed Shein was the 7th President of Zanzibar,from 2010 to 2020. He was previously Vice President of Tanzania from 2001 to 2010. Shein is originally from the island of Pemba,and he is a member of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party. He is a medical doctor by profession.

Indian Tanzanians constitute a significant minority within the demographic landscape of Tanzania,over 60,000 Tanzanian citizens of Indian descent reside in the country. Many among them are wealthy traders and entrepreneurs,and despite forming only 0.2% of the population,they are considered by the Hindu Council of Tanzania to have disproportionate ownership of Tanzanian companies. The 2012 United States House of Representatives elections in Virginia were held on Tuesday,November 6,2012,to elect the 11 U.S. representatives from Virginia,one from each of the state's 11 congressional districts. General elections were held in Antigua and Barbuda on 18 January 2023 to elect members of the House of Representatives. The Labour Party (ABLP) has held an absolute majority of 15 seats in the House of Representatives after the 2018 general election,with Gaston Browne remaining as prime minister. Browne initiated a constitutional referendum after the 2018 election,which was rejected by voters,and following the death of Elizabeth II in 2022,he announced his intention to organise a referendum for the transition of Antigua and Barbuda to a republican system. Besides ABLP,the United Progressive Party (UPP),Democratic National Alliance,Barbuda People's Movement (BPM),and three independent politicians filed candidacies for the 2023 general election.
