Mohammad Maksudur Rahman is a retired major general in the Bangladesh Army. Before retirement he was Director General of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies. [1]

Early life

Rahman was born on 1 September 1966. [2] He graduated from the Defence Services Command and Staff College and did a master's degree in defence studies from the National University, Bangladesh. [2]

Career

Rahman was commissioned in Bangladesh Army on 20 December 1985 in the Infantry regiment. [2] He was part of 13th Bangladesh Military Academy long course. [3] [4]

From 1992 to 1993, Rahman served in the United Nations Protection Force during the Yugoslav Wars. [2]

From 2006 to 2007, Rahman served in the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire. [2]

From 19 November 2013 to 19 November 2015, Rahman served as 10th Commandant of Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training. [2] He also served as Commander and later commandant of the President Guard Regiment. [5] In October 2015, he was appointed the Deputy Commander of the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur. [6]

Rahman also served as Directing Staff of Defence services Command and Staff College, Mirpur. He served as an instructor at School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T) in Jalalabad Catonment and Non- commissioned officer's Academy (NCOA) in Bogra Cantonment.

In February 2017, Rahman was appointed the General Officer Commanding of the 10th Infantry Division in Ramu Cantonment. [7] He replaced Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan. [8]

Rahman was posted at National Defence College as Senior Directing Staff (Army-1). [9] Before join NDC, he was Director General of Directorate General Defence Purchase (DGDP).He also served as the Directing Staff of Defence Services Command & staff College (DSCSC). [10] [11]

Rahman was the Director General of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies until September 2022. [12]

In December 2022, Rahman was appointed chairman of Uttara Finance and Investments Limited. [13]

Personal life

Rahman is married to Rownak Afroz with whom he has two daughters. [2]

ARTDOC is a research-oriented formation in the Bangladesh Army. Its headquarters is located in Momenshahi Cantonment, Mymensingh. It is charged with overseeing training evaluation and reforms; weapon, equipment and force modernization; development of concepts and doctrine revision. It consists of its headquarters, battle group and all the training institutions of the Bangladesh Army. A.K.M Aminul Haque is a retired major general of the Bangladesh Army. He was attached in Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Once served as director general of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party. He was the chairman of the Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank.

Major General Khan Firoz Ahmed OSP, ndc, afwc, psc is a two-star general of the Bangladesh Army. He is currently appointed as Senior Directing Staff (Army-2) at National Defence College. Earlier, he was the Military Secretary at Army Headquarters, Dhaka Cantonment. He is also the incumbent President of Army Golf Club and Chairman Bangladesh Golf Academy.

Muhammad Mahbub-ul Alam is a Major General of Bangladesh Army and the incumbent Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals. Prior to Joining BUP, he served as Principal of Adamjee Cantonment College. Before that, he served as ADG of Bangladesh Border Guard.

Muhammad Faizur Rahman SGP, BSP, ndc, afwc, psc is a Lieutenant General and incumbent Quartermaster general of Bangladesh Army. Before that, he served as DG of Directorate-General of Forces Intelligence. He served as the 28th commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC). Prior to join here, he was GOC of the 66 Infantry Division, Bangladesh Army and area commander, Rangpur Area. He also served as the commandant of Army Security Unit of Bangladesh Army.

A.K.M Nazmul Hasan is a retired major general in the Bangladesh Army and was Commandant of East Bengal Regimental Centre.
