Mohammed Hanzab is the President of the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) in Doha, Qatar. He is the former President of the Qatar International Academy for Security Studies and has an extensive background in defence.
Born in Doha, Qatar (1965), Hanzab graduated from the British Royal Air Force College Cranwell.
Hanzab is a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Qatar Armed Forces [1] and has served as a commander of the Qatar Air Defence School and worked at the Qatar Air Defence Project, focusing on the advancement of secure communication, radar and C4i capabilities. Hanzab also undertook various senior roles for the Qatar Information Agency, including Director of Publications. He serves as President of the ICSS and is a former President of the Qatar International Academy for Security Studies (QIASS). [2]

The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) is an international, not-for-profit organisation based in Doha, Qatar. It was established in 2010 to act as a global hub of expertise in the field of safety, security and integrity for major sporting events. The ICSS's key activities include advisory, training and research. It works primarily with organising committees, [4] governments, bidding nations, [5] infrastructure owners, sport associations, leagues and clubs. Hanzab was proud to launch the first international sport security journal in December 2012. [6] The ICSS also organises the annual conference, "Securing Sport", [7] first held in Doha in 2011, [8] Qatar as well as the ICSS Expert Summit most recently held in Austria. [9] [10] The Vice President of the ICSS is Qatari, Mohammed Hajaj Al Shahwani, [11] [12] the Director General is German-born, Helmut Spahn formerly of FIFA and now a UEFA Security Officer. [13] Hanzab's advisory board members include: Lord John Stevens, Eric Drossart, Khoo Boon Hui, Rick Parry, Dr Peter Ryan, Horst R. Schmidt and tennis star, Monica Seles. [14]
In 2008 Mohammed Hanzab was appointed President of the Qatar International Academy for Security Studies (QIASS), [15] a professional institute that aims to raise security standards, knowledge, and cooperation within the Gulf region and across the world. QIASS serves multiple market sectors including governmental, commercial, and non-profit, across national, multinational, and international levels. Partners include global education and strategic policy organisations. [16] [17]
Hanzab has been called on [18] by a multitude of international media [19] on a variety of sport security, safety and integrity issues. [20] He has signed memorandums of understanding on the ICSS’ behalf with a number of organisations including: UNICEF, UNESCO, European Professional Football Leagues, the Qatar Football Association, [21] the Organization of American States, the European Lotteries [22] and Germany's Institute for Fan Culture, [23] [24] ESSMA, [25] the World Bank, [26] and a partnership agreement with Pantheon-Sorbonne University [27] [28] to combat breaches of sporting integrity including match-fixing, with the duo most recently awarding an integrity award to the Badminton World Federation for their swift and resolute action in banning four Badminton doubles teams from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games for match fixing. [29] [30] Hanzab also launched the Save the Dream programme with football star Alessandro Del Piero, [31] awarding the first 'save the dream' award to Ivan Fernandez Anaya. [32] The first international 'save the dream' office was opened at Allesandro Del Piero's new Academy in Turin, Italy in May 2013. [33] Hanzab also headed a high-level meeting in collaboration with UNICRI on sport protection in the Middle East. [34]
The Jassim bin Hamad Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Doha, Qatar. It is currently used mostly for football matches and it also has facilities for athletics. The football team Al-Sadd plays there. The stadium, originally built in 1974, was rebuilt in 2004 for the Gulf Cup and currently has a capacity of 12,946 people. The stadium is also used as the home stadium of the Qatar national football team. The stadium was named after the former Minister of Education Jassim bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Thani, who had provided the permission for the club’s founding in 1969.
Al-Sailiya Sports Club is a Qatari professional football club currently competing in the Qatar Stars League. They are based in Doha and play their home games at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is the Emir of Qatar. He is the fourth son of the previous Emir, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Tamim has held a variety of government posts within Qatar and has been at the forefront of efforts to promote sports and healthy living within the country. Al-Markhiya Sports Club is a Qatari multi-sports club, based in the Al Markhiya district of Doha. Its football department plays in the Qatargas League. It was widely regarded as the fastest improving team due to it winning the Second Division league 4 times in the first 5 it has taken part of. It has also entered history by being the first second division club to be promoted to the Qatar Stars League. The club was founded in 1995 as Al-Ittifaq, but was renamed to Al-Markhiya in 2004 to better represent the district where it is located.
Al-Mesaimeer Sports Club is a Qatari multi-sports club based in Mesaimeer. Its football department plays in the Qatar Stars League. It was previously known as Al-Nahda Sports Club, then Al-Shoala, and finally, today it is known as Mesaimeer Sports Club. It was promoted to the first division of Qatari football for the first time in history in the 2014–15 season.

Helmut Spahn is Director Security of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), former Director General of the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), former president of the football club Kickers Offenbach and spent over 20 years as a high-ranking officer in the German police force. Spahn was formerly Head of Security for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ and Chief Security Officer for the German Football Association . He has been a UEFA Security Officer for the Champions League and Europa League since 2007 as well as UEFA Euro 2012.

Saoud bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani is a Qatari sports administrator and member of the ruling family of Qatar. He is the former secretary general of the Qatar Olympic Committee. He is now an ambassador of Qatar to Germany.
Mohamed Ghanem El Ali Almaadheed is a Qatari physician, retired general and writer. He is widely regarded as a pioneering figure in the development of the sports medicine field in Qatar. He has been involved in sports medicine projects in the country since 1991.

Al Rayyan is a city in the municipality of its namesake, Al Rayyan, Qatar. The city and its suburbs comprise the largest population center in Qatar outside of Doha proper. Consisting of all of the districts in the municipality's easternmost section, its boundary cuts off at roughly the point where the Al Majd Highway runs through the municipality. It is considered a part of the Metropolitan Doha area. It is one of the proposed venues for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
