Note:Mohsen Baharvand (April 4,1966) is an Iranian diplomat who served as ambassador of Iran to United Kingdom from July 2021 to February 2022. [1] [2] In February 2022,Baharvand organized an event to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. A video circulated showing an embassy reception in London. A woman playing piano alongside a male violinist and several other women were not wearing their hijab,despite the hijab being required in Iran. [3] [4] [5] After the video circulated,he was ordered back to Tehran by the Foreign Ministry and was removed from position as diplomat. [6]
Baharvand was born in Khorramabad,Iran,on April 4,1966. In 1989–1993,he studied at the School of International Relations in Tehran,Iran. In 2010–2012,he received an M.A. in Human Rights Law from the Faculty of Law in Shahid Beheshti (National) University. [7]
From 1994 to 1995,Baharvand worked as a Legal Counsel at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Legal Affairs Division. He worked as a deputy director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Legal Affairs Division from 1995 to 1996. He was a member of Iran's Permanent Mission in Geneva from 1996 until 2000. He served as Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Legal Affairs Division from 2001 until 2005. From 2006 to 2009,he was the Chargéd'affaires and Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Embassy in Buenos Aires. He served as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Director-General for Latin American Countries from 2009 to 2014. He was the Deputy Secretary-General of the Asian African Legal Consultative Organization from 2014 to 2022. [7]
Three Iranian diplomats as well as a reporter for Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) were abducted in Lebanon on 4 July 1982. None of them have been seen since. The missing individuals are Ahmad Motevaselian,military attachéfor Iran's embassy in Beirut;Seyed Mohsen Mousavi,chargéd'affaires at the embassy;Taghi Rastegar Moghadam,an embassy employee;and Kazem Akhavan,IRNA photojournalist. Motevaselian was also an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) member in command of an Iranian expeditionary force in Lebanon.

The 2011 attack on the British Embassy in Iran was a mob action on 29 November 2011 by a crowd of Iranian protesters who stormed the embassy and another British diplomatic compound in Tehran,Iran,ransacking offices and stealing documents. One small building was set on fire during the incident and several people were injured. The Iranian government publicly condemned the violence.

The 2016 attack on the Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran was a mob action on 2 January 2016 by protesters against the execution of a prominent Saudi Arabian Shi'a cleric. Attack on the Iranian Embassy in London was an incident that took place on Friday,March 9,2018 by some supporters of Sadiq al-Shirazi affiliated with the Mahdi Servants Union. With the intention of supporting Sadiq al-Shirazi's school and protesting the arrest of Hussein al-Shirazi by the Islamic Republic of Iran,these people entered the premises and balcony of the Iranian Embassy in London,pulled down the Iranian flag and displayed the flag of their own group. The attackers also chanted slogans against the Iranian authorities and cursed Aisha,Abu Bakr,Umar and Uthman. The attack was covered live by some satellite TV channels,including Fadak satellite channel,which is said to be affiliated with Yasser Al-Habib,a Kuwaiti Shia Muslim scholar resident of London.
