Molly Kathryn Mackey (born December 3, 1992) is an American softball player and coach.
Mackey attended Overton High School in Overton, Texas. [1] [2] She later attended Angelina College [1] and Kilgore College, [3] [4] [5] [6] before transferring to the University of Louisiana at Monroe, [1] [7] where she played first base and designated player for the Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks softball team. After graduating from Louisiana–Monroe, Mackey served as an assistant softball coach at Galveston College [8] and LeTourneau University, before being named head softball coach at Sabine High School in Liberty City, Texas on June 14, 2017. [9] [10] Mackey was named head softball and volleyball coach at Union Grove High School in Union Grove, Texas on June 1, 2020. [11] [12]

Rusk County is a county located in Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 52,214. Its county seat is Henderson. The county is named for Thomas Jefferson Rusk, a secretary of war of the Republic of Texas.
Gregg County is a county located in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 124,239. Its county seat is Longview. The county is named after John Gregg, a Confederate general killed in action during the American Civil War.
Kilgore is a city in Gregg and Rusk counties in Texas, United States. Over three-fourths of the area within city limits are located in Gregg County, the remainder in Rusk County. The population was 12,975 at the 2010 census and 13,376 at the 2020 census.
Longview is a city in, and county seat of, Gregg County, Texas, United States. Longview is located in East Texas, where Interstate 20 and U.S. highways 80 and 259 converge just north of the Sabine River. According to the 2020 U.S. census, the city had a population of 81,638. Longview is the principal city of the Longview metropolitan statistical area, comprising Gregg, Upshur, and Rusk counties. The population of the metropolitan area as of 2021 census estimates was 287,858.
The Ark-La-Tex is a socio-economic tri-state region where the Southern U.S. states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas join together. The region contains portions of Northwest Louisiana, Northeast Texas, and South Arkansas as well as the extreme southeastern tip of Oklahoma, in McCurtain County, partly centered upon the Red River, which flows along the Texas–Oklahoma state line into Southwestern Arkansas and Northwest Louisiana.
The Southland Conference, abbreviated as SLC, is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the South Central United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I for all sports; for football, it participates in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Southland sponsors 18 sports, 10 for women and eight for men, and is governed by a presidential Board of Directors and an Advisory Council of athletic and academic administrators. Chris Grant became the Southland's seventh commissioner on April 5, 2022. From 1996 to 2002, for football only, the Southland Conference was known as the Southland Football League.
Monroe University is a private for-profit college in New York City. It was founded in 1933 and has campuses in the Bronx, New Rochelle and Saint Lucia, with degree programs also available through Monroe Online. The college is named after James Monroe, the fifth president of the United States. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Kilgore College (KC) is a public community college in Kilgore, Texas. It has an annual enrollment in excess of 5,000 students and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the associate degree. The college was established in 1935 at the height of the East Texas oil boom, and as such, is home to the East Texas Oil Museum which houses a large collection of memorabilia documenting this period of Texas history. It is also famous for having the first ever dance-drill team, the Kilgore College Rangerettes, which began in 1940 under the direction of Gussie Nell Davis.
The Longview metropolitan statistical area is a metropolitan area in Northeast Texas that covers four counties—Gregg, Harrison, Rusk, and Upshur. As of the 2010 census the MSA had a population of 280,000. Before 2023, it was also part of the larger Longview–Marshall combined statistical area. In 2023, the Marshall micropolitan area was disestablished and its sole county, Harrison County, was made part of the Longview metropolitan area.
Longview High School is a public high school located in the city of Longview, Texas, in Gregg County, United States and classified as a 6A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Longview Independent School District located in eastern Gregg County. The school was founded in 1874 as the Longview Male and Female Institute, and the first permanent structure was established in 1885. In 2017, the school earned 7-out-of-7 distinctions from the Texas Education Agency.
The Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks are the intercollegiate athletics teams representing the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM). ULM currently fields 15 varsity teams in 11 sports and competes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
Dee Elbert Mackey was an American football tight end who played professionally for six seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and the American Football League (AFL). He played for the NFL's San Francisco 49ers (1960) and the Baltimore Colts (1961–1962). He played for the AFL's New York Jets (1963–1965).
The Kilgore College Rangerettes, also known simply as the Rangerettes, are an American precision dance team from Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas, created by Gussie Nell Davis in 1939. The Rangerettes have performed in 74 Cotton Bowl game halftimes in a row, and make regular appearances at NFL pre-game and half-time shows for the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. The Rangerettes perform at Kilgore College football games, and in many other athletic and special events, including the Cotton Bowl game, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and five presidential inaugurations. They have taken several world tours since the 1970s, including South America, the Far East, Romania, France, Canada, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, England, Scotland, and Ireland.
The Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks softball team represents the University of Louisiana at Monroe in NCAA Division I college softball. The team participates in the Sun Belt Conference. The Warhawks are currently led by head coach Molly Fichtner, who was hired in September 2018. The team plays its home games at the Geo-Surfaces Field at the ULM Softball Complex located on the university's campus.
Sandra James is an American softball player. She attended Sabine High School in Gladewater, Texas. She later attended Angelo State University for one year, before transferring to Texas Tech University, where she played first base and catcher for the Texas Tech Red Raiders softball team. She holds the single-season record for home runs at both Angelo State and Texas Tech.
Molly Fichtner is an American softball coach and former player. She is currently the head coach at Louisiana–Monroe.
Sarah N. Dawson is an American, former collegiate All-American, softball pitcher and head coach. She played college softball for Louisiana–Monroe and is the Southland Conference career leader in wins, strikeouts, shutouts, WHIP and innings pitched. She ranks top-10 all-time in NCAA Division I for career shutouts (9th) and innings (5th).
KTVE, UHF analog channel 32, was an independent television station licensed to Longview, Texas, United States, that operated from 1953 to 1955. KTVE was one of the first television stations in east Texas. However, its use of the quickly outmoded UHF, and the arrival of a VHF station in the form of KLTV, made continued operation unviable, and the station closed on Christmas Day 1955.
Patty Dowdell is a retired volleyball player who primarily was on the United States women's national volleyball team from 1974 to 1980. With the national team, Dowdell and the United States finished in seventh at the 1977 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup and fifth at the 1978 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship. After playing at the 1979 Pan American Games, Dowdell was part of the American volleyball team that boycotted the 1980 Summer Olympics. She resumed playing on the national team in the early 1980s and did not play any games at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Outside of the national team, Dowdell played for the Dallas Belles and Chicago Breeze in the Major League Volleyball during the late 1980s.
The Big Six Junior College Conference was a junior college athletic conference with member schools located in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas that operated from 1950 to 1954. The conference was formed in December 1949 with six initial members: Cameron State Agricultural College—now known as Cameron University, Kilgore College, McNeese Junior College—now known as McNeese State University, Northeast Junior College of Louisiana State University—now known as University of Louisiana at Monroe, Paris Junior College, and Tyler Junior College. J. R. McLemore, president of Paris Junior College, was the president of the conference. McNeese and Northeast Louisiana State left the conference in 1951 when the schools became four-year colleges. Little Rock Junior College—now known as University of Arkansas at Little Rock—joined the conference in 1952. Cameron and Little Rock both left the conference in 1953, leaving only the three Texas schools: Kilgore, Paris, and Tyler. The Big Six Junior College Conference dissolved in 1954. Kilgore and Tyler joined the newly-formed Longhorn Conference. Paris joined the Texas Junior College Conference (TJCC).
