Apolo Robin Nsibambi was a Ugandan academic and politician who served as the 8th Prime Minister of Uganda from 5 April 1999 until 24 May 2011, when Amama Mbabazi succeeded him.
Makerere University, Kampala is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. The main administrative block was gutted by fire in September 2020 and the cause of the fire is yet to be established.

Major General (Retired) Jim Muhwezi Katugugu is a Ugandan lawyer, politician and retired military officer. He serves as the Cabinet Minister for National Security, in the Ugandan Cabinet, effective 8 June 2021.

Christine Dranzoa was a Ugandan university professor, academic administrator, biologist, terrestrial ecologist and community leader. She was, at the time of her death, the Vice Chancellor of Muni University, one of the public universities in Uganda.
Peter Ndimbirwe Mugyenyi, MBChB, DCH, FRCPI, FRCPE, ScD is a Ugandan physician, HIV/AIDS researcher, medical administrator and author. He is executive director and co-founder of the Joint Clinical Research Centre, and a leading authority on treatment of HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Edward Bitanywaine Rugumayo is a Ugandan politician, diplomat, author, academic and environmentalist. He has previously served as cabinet minister in three Ugandan administrations. From 1979 until 1980, Rugumayo served as the Chairman of the Uganda Legislative Council. He currently serves as the chancellor of two Ugandan universities. He is a botanist and a community leader.
John Musisi Senyonyi is a mathematician, academic, evangelist and academic administrator in Uganda. He is the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University, a private university that was accredited by the Uganda National Council of Higher Education (UNCHE), in 1997. He was appointed to that position in 2010. Following ten continuous years in that position, he resigned, and handed over to Aaron Mushengyezi, in August 2020.
Frederick Ian Bantubano Kayanja is a Ugandan veterinarian, academic, and academic administrator. He has been the chancellor of Gulu University, a public institution of higher education, since October 2014, replacing Martin Aliker. He is a former vice chancellor of the Mbarara University of Science and Technology. He assumed that position in 1989 and stepped down in October 2014. Before that, he served as the deputy vice chancellor of Makerere University, the oldest and largest public university in Uganda.
Jack H. Pen-Mogi Nyeko is a Ugandan veterinarian, academic and academic administrator. He is the vice chancellor of Gulu University, a public university in northern Uganda.
Francis Gervase Omaswa, MBChB, MMed, FRCS (Edin), FCS (ECSA), is a Ugandan cardiovascular surgeon, academic and administrator. He was installed as the chancellor of Soroti University, one of the nine public universities in Uganda at that time, in August 2022.
Eli Katunguka-Rwakishaya is a Ugandan veterinarian, academic and academic administrator. He is the Vice Chancellor of Kyambogo University, one of Uganda's public universities. He was appointed to that position in February 2014. Prior to that, he served at the Director of Postgraduate studies at Makerere University, the oldest and largest public university in the country.
Kigezi College Butobere is the first boys-only, boarding, senior secondary school located in Kabale District in the Western Region of Uganda.
Barnabas Nawangwe, is a Ugandan architect, academic and the current vice chancellor of the Makerere University, the largest public university of Uganda. He served his first five-year term from 2017 until August 2022. On 12 August 2022, the Makerere University Council re-appointed him for a second term of five years.
Badru Dungu Kateregga, is a Ugandan academic, entrepreneur and academic administrator, who serves as the vice chancellor of Kampala University, a private university that he co-founded.
Vinand Mukatabala Nantulya, is a Ugandan physician, pathologist, medical researcher, entrepreneur and academic administrator, who since 3 October 2017, serves as the Chancellor of Busitema University, a public university in the Eastern Region of Uganda.
