Monika Schachl (born 21 August 1978 in Mondsee) is a retired Austrian professional road cyclist and mountain biker. [1] She represented her nation Austria at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and later captured three Austrian championship titles each in mountain biking, road race, and time trial during the 2005 and 2008 seasons. [2] Before her official retirement in 2009, Schachl rode for Team Uniqa Graz in the women's elite professional events on the UCI Women's World Cup, UCI World Championships, and Austrian Championships. [3]
Schachl qualified for the Austrian squad in the women's road race at the 2008 Summer Olympics by receiving one of the nation's two available berths from the UCI World Cup. [4] [5] She successfully completed a grueling race with a forty-sixth-place effort in 3:36:37, trailing behind Belgium's Lieselot Decroix and Mexico's Alessandra Grassi by a scanty, two-second gap. Hanka Kupfernagel is a retired German professional cycle racer. During most of her career her primary focus was cyclo-cross racing, however, she has also won major road, track and mountain bike races. She has won seven consecutive medals at the UCI Women's Cyclo-cross World Championships, including three gold medals for 2000, 2001 and 2005; two silver medals in 2002 and 2003; and the bronze medal in 2004. Her major career victories also include a gold medal in the individual time trial competition at the 2007 UCI Road World Championships in Stuttgart and a silver medal in the road race at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
Kristin Armstrong Savola is a former professional road bicycle racer and three-time Olympic gold medalist, the winner of the women's individual time trial in 2008, 2012, and 2016. Before temporarily retiring to start a family in 2009, she rode for Cervélo TestTeam in women's elite professional events on the National Racing Calendar (NRC) and UCI Women's World Cup. She announced a return to competitive cycling beginning in the 2011 season, competing for Peanut Butter & Co. TWENTY12 at the Redlands Classic.

Linda Melanie Villumsen Serup is a Danish-born road racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Women's Team Team Virtu Cycling. Villumsen became a New Zealand citizen in 2009 and has ridden under a Kiwi licence from 2010.
Natalia Sergeyevna Boyarskaya is a Russian former professional racing cyclist. She represented her country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Boyarskaya broke away from the main peloton in the road race and managed to build up a lead of 59 seconds, but had to stop when she could not see which way to choose. She was eventually caught and went on to finish 40th, and three days later she finished 16th in the time trial.
Alessandra Giuseppina Grassi Herrera is a Mexican professional road cyclist. She won a silver medal in the women's time trial at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and later represented her nation Mexico at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Alexandra "Alex" Wrubleski is a Canadian retired professional road cyclist. She has awarded three Canadian championship titles in both road race and time trial, and later represented her nation Canada at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Wrubleski also raced for the United States' Webcor Builders Cycling Team, before she took a wide sporting break at the end of 2010 season.
Christine Thorburn is a retired American professional road cyclist. She became the U.S. women's individual time trial champion in 2004, and later represented the United States in two editions of the Olympic Games, where she narrowly missed the podium twice in the same event. Before retiring to pursue her medicine and rheumatology career in 2008, Thorburn rode for the Webcor Builders Cycling Team in the women's elite professional events on the UCI Women's World Cup and on the UCI World Championships, where she took home the bronze medal in 2006.
Jennifer Hohl is a retired Swiss professional road cyclist. She represented Switzerland at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and later earned three Swiss national championship titles in the women's elite road race. Before retiring to focus primarily on her family life and business career, Hohl rode for three seasons on the Bigla Cycling Team since 2006, followed by her short, annual stints on Germany's Noris Cycling and Italy's Mcipollini–Giordana and Faren–Honda Team.
Tereza Huříková is a Czech professional road cyclist and mountain biker. Throughout her sporting career, she has won numerous Czech national championship titles in women's cross-country, road races and time trial, and more importantly, a prestigious gold medal in the junior time trial at the 2004 UCI World Championships. Huříková later represented the Czech Republic, as a 20-year-old junior, at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and also rode for USC Chirio Forno d'Asolo and Česká Spořitelna MTB Cycling Teams since she turned professional in 2006. Currently, Huříková trains and races under an exclusive, two-year sponsorship contract for Germany's Central Haibike Pro Team, along with her teammate and 2008 Olympic champion Sabine Spitz.
Petra Henzi is a retired Swiss professional mountain biker. Throughout her sporting career, she has won numerous Swiss national championship titles, and more importantly, a total of four prestigious medals in women's cross-country race at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. Henzi later represented her nation Switzerland, as a 38-year-old senior, at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and also rode professionally for more than five seasons on Fischer-BMC Team, before retiring from the sport in early 2010.
Nathalie Jessica Schneitter is a Swiss professional mountain biker. Throughout her sporting career, she has won numerous Swiss national championship titles, and more importantly, a gold medal in the under-23 category at the 2008 European Mountain Bike Championships. Schneitter also handed an opportunity to represent her nation Switzerland at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and later rode professionally for more than five seasons on an exclusive sponsorship contract with the Colnago Team.
Marek Galiński was a Polish professional mountain biker and road racing cyclist. During his sporting career, he won nine Polish national championship titles and a silver medal in men's cross-country racing at the 2003 UCI World Cup series in Sankt Wendel, Germany. Galinski also represented his nation Poland in four editions of the Olympic Games, where he competed in men's mountain biking from the time that it officially became an Olympic sport in 1996. Galinski raced professionally for more than five seasons on the JBG2 Professional MTB Team. After his retirement from the sport in 2011, Galinski worked as an assistant coach of both Polish and Russian mountain bike national teams. Upon his return from a training camp in Cyprus on 17 March 2014, Galinski was suddenly killed in a car accident near Jędrzejów.
Christoph Reinhold Soukup is an Austrian professional mountain biker. Riding the sport for more than 15 years, Soukup has won fourteen Austrian national championship titles in men's mountain biking, and later represented his nation Austria in two editions of the Olympic Games, where he installed top-fifteen finishes in the same tournament. Throughout his sporting career, Soukup has been training and racing professionally for more than a decade on the Hitec Sports Team, although he had appeared short stints under a sponsorship contract with the Team FujiBikes and Mérida Biking Team.
Wolfram Kurschat is a German professional mountain biker. He has claimed two German national championship titles each in men's cross-country and marathon races, and later represented his nation Germany at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Kurschat currently trains and races for the 2013 season on Topeak-Ergon Racing Team, since he turned himself professional on the international scene in 2008.
