Critical reception

At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 83% based on 7 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". [1]

Andy Beta of Pitchfork said: "While almost every second of Moodymann's oeuvre hearkens back to his hometown, Moodymann is perhaps his most explicit ode yet." [4] James Williams of Exclaim! described the production as "dark hypnotic melodies coupled with his signature chopped-up vocal tics, pulsing hardware synths and delightfully warped stories from his native home of Detroit." [2] Will Lynch of Resident Advisor said, "nobody else makes house records as weird and rich as this." [5] Ben Cardew of The Guardian called it "one of his most high-profile releases in years." [8]

Rolling Stone placed it at number 7 on the "20 Best EDM, Electronic and Dance Albums of 2014" list. [9] NPR placed it at number 8 on the "10 Best Electronic Albums of 2014" list. [10] Fact listed it on the "20 Best Album Covers of 2014" list. [11]

This Is Happening is the third studio album by American rock band LCD Soundsystem. It was released first on May 17, 2010, jointly through DFA and Virgin Records in the United States and Parlophone elsewhere. It was recorded over the course of 2009 and early 2010 in the Mansion recording studio in Los Angeles. The first single, "Drunk Girls", was released in April 2010, with a music video directed by Spike Jonze. Morning/Evening is the eighth album by British electronic musician Kieran Hebden, released under his alias Four Tet in 2015 by Hebden's own Text Records and via the online music store Bandcamp. As a child, Hebden had inherited a collection of Hindu devotional music from his late grandfather but did not listen to it until his maternal grandmother died during the making of his 2013 album, Beautiful Rewind. After sampling the voice of Indian playback singer Lata Mangeshkar, Hebden was inspired to make a record with a similar structure to Indian music, particularly the raga mode and decided to break the album into a "Morning Side" and an "Evening Side". Alongside the sampled vocals, Morning/Evening contains complex drum programming, electronic sounds and manipulated found sounds.

Elaenia is the debut studio album by British electronic musician Sam Shepherd, released under his alias Floating Points on 6 November 2015 by Shepherd's own Pluto label and Luaka Bop. Shepherd created the artwork for the album by connecting fibre-optic cables to a home made harmonograph. Shepherd had originally conceived the album to contain only one track but was advised against the idea and eventually cut the music into seven songs. Elaenia's title track was named when Shepherd experienced a dream about a bird that became engulfed in a forest after he had been reading the speculative fiction novel Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives by American neuroscientist David Eagleman.
