Morteza Atashzamzam is an Iranian film director and producer who was born in 1977 in Isfahan, Iran.
Morteza Atashzamzam graduated from university in Computer Sciences. Since 2002, he has directed and produced more than forty independent films, documentaries, and television series. He was the director of Bam Film Festival (2008 & 2010). The 2016 film Melancholy was his first feature film as a director. [1]

Morteza Hannaneh was an Iranian composer and Musician
Morteza Motahhari was an Iranian Twelver Shia scholar, philosopher, lecturer. Motahhari is considered to have an important influence on the ideologies of the Islamic Republic, among others. He was a co-founder of Hosseiniye Ershad and the Combatant Clergy Association. He was a disciple of Ruhollah Khomeini during the Shah's reign and formed the Council of the Islamic Revolution at Khomeini's request. He was chairman of the council at the time of his assassination.

Morteza Momayez was an Iranian graphic designer. He was one of the founders of Iranian Graphic Design Society (IGDS) and held a membership to Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI). He was the president of Tehran International Poster Biennial and Editor-in-chief of “Neshan”. Throughout his career, Momayez initiated many cultural institutes, exhibitions and graphic design publications. In 2004, Momayez received the Art & Culture Award of Excellency from President Mohammad Khatami.
Sayyid Morteza Avini was an Iranian documentary filmmaker, author, and theoretician of "Islamic Cinema." He studied Architecture at Tehran University in 1965. During the Iranian Revolution, Avini started his artistic career as a director of documentary films, and is considered a prominent war filmmaker. He made over 80 films on the Iran–Iraq War. According to Agnes Devictor, Avini invented original cinematography methods, depicting the esoteric side of the Iran–Iraq War in terms of Shia mystical thought. Most of his work was devoted to reflecting how bassijis perceived the war and their role in it. His most famous work is the documentary series Ravayat-e Fath, which was filmed during the Iran–Iraq War. He was killed by a landmine explosion in 1993, while filming. He was described as a Shahid (martyr) after his death, and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared him "the master of martyred literati". The 20th day of Farvardin is entitled the day of "Islamic Revolution art" in his honor.

According to the director, Melancholy is not about what is real or not, but it is about the threshold between what is real and what is illusion, which varies according to the character's point of view.
