Motor was an Australian automobile magazine published monthly by Are Media. Motor was Australia's leading performance car publication, with two major awards for automotive manufacturers: Performance Car of the Year and Sports Car of the Year.
Motor magazine was originally published as Modern Motor from its inaugural issue on 9 May 1954 by the Colin Ryrie as MD of Modern Magazines and Jules Feldman as editor. [1] The name derived from the publishing house that produced it, Modern Magazines. Colloquially, the title was abbreviated to Motor, and subsequently the word 'Modern' was dropped from the title to become simply Motor in 1992. The magazine is headquartered in Melbourne.
Dylan Campbell was the editor between 2013 and 2020. After switching to Wheels in September 2020, Campbell was succeeded as editor by Andy Enright.
As of 2020 Motor was being published by Are Media, the successor to the Bauer Media Australia. [2] [3]
It was announced in April 2022 that the June 2022 issue of Motor will be the magazine's last, ending sixty-eight years of continuous publication. [4]
Bang For Your Bucks was an annual award recognising Australia's best value new performance or sports vehicle. It was inaugurated in 1994.
The winner is determined by combining performance data, as gathered on a racetrack, with price to produce a Bang For Your Bucks score.
In 2022, Bang For Your Bucks was replaced by a new competition, Sports Car of the Year, run alongside the existing Performance Car of the Year. The inaugural winner of Sports Car of the Year 2022 was the Subaru BRZ.
Motor's first Performance Car of the Year was in 1996. Performance Car of the Year recognises the best new performance or sports vehicle released in the preceding 12 months, based on the votes of a judging panel.

Chevrolet is an American automobile division of the American manufacturer General Motors (GM). Louis Chevrolet (1878–1941), Arthur Chevrolet (1884–1946) and ousted General Motors founder William C. Durant (1861–1947) started the company on November 3, 1911 as the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. Durant used the Chevrolet Motor Car Company to acquire a controlling stake in General Motors with a reverse merger occurring on May 2, 1918, and propelled himself back to the GM presidency. Wheels magazine is sold in Australia and New Zealand only and can be found at stores such as newsagents. The Bathurst Motor Festival is an annual motor racing event held at the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia during the Easter long weekend. The event was first held in 2011 as a replacement for the Festival of Sporting Cars and as a way to give a higher number of drivers the opportunity to drive on the circuit. The event plays host to a variety of racing categories, including production cars, sports cars, open-wheel racing cars and historic cars, which take part in sprint races, endurance races and regularity sessions. Around 300 vehicles are entered for the event each year, with crowds of up to and over 10,000 people attending the event. Car clubs also attend the event, displaying their cars within the confines of the circuit and performing parade laps. Since 2016, the Bathurst 6 Hour production car race has been the showpiece race of the event.

The inaugural event was staged in Brisbane on 9–10 October 2018. Helen Reddy was the inaugural inductee into the AWMA Honour Roll.
The J29/DB Toyota Supra, also known as the Toyota GR Supra, is the fifth generation of the Supra, a sports car produced by Toyota since 2019. The GR Supra was sold under and developed by Toyota's Gazoo Racing (GR) brand, in collaboration with BMW, and replaces the A80 Supra, which stopped production in 2002. The GR Supra rides on a new jointly-developed sports car platform by Toyota and BMW, with a short wheelbase, wide track, and low center of gravity, that also underpins the G29 BMW Z4. Initially, BMW considered using a pre-existing platform of their own to underpin the new Supra, to which chief engineer Tada-san declined. Both cars are also manufactured at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria.
The Kia EV6 is a battery electric compact crossover SUV produced by Kia. Introduced in March 2021, it is the first Kia dedicated electric vehicle, and the first model developed on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5. It is also the first model to be named under the new nomenclature designated for a line of Kia electric cars, which will range from EV1 to EV9. The EV6 is the 2022 European Car of the Year.
