Music and recording

Potter plays tenor sax on most of the tracks. [1] He switches to soprano sax for "Book of Kells" and "A Kiss to Build a Dream On". [1] On "Chorale", he plays bass clarinet. [1] The title track is played in 5/4 time. [1]

Reception

The AllMusic reviewer wrote that "Concept-wise, this isn't Potter's boldest offering. But the playing is emotionally charged and technically superb." [1] The Chicago Tribune reviewer commented that Potter's album was "the boldest recording of his career". [2]
