Asumal Sirumalani Harpalani,known by devotees as Asaram,was an Indian spiritual leader and convicted rapist,who started to come into the limelight in the early 1970s. By 2013,he was estimated to have established over 400 ashrams and 40 schools in India and abroad.
The 2002 Gujarat riots,also known as the 2002 Gujarat violence,was a three-day period of inter-communal violence in the western Indian state of Gujarat. The burning of a train in Godhra on 27 February 2002,which caused the deaths of 58 Hindu pilgrims and karsevaks returning from Ayodhya,is cited as having instigated the violence. Following the initial riot incidents,there were further outbreaks of violence in Ahmedabad for three months;statewide,there were further outbreaks of violence against the minority Muslim population of Gujarat for the next year.

The Mohsin Sheikh murder was the lynching of Mohsin Shaikh in Pune on 2 June 2014. Communal tensions followed public awareness of derogatory photographs of Maratha king Shivaji and Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray uploaded to social media. Public buses were vandalized and arrests were made. The uploads were made through foreign proxy servers traced to sources in India. Home minister R R Patil said authorities know who uploaded the images and that Mohsin was innocent and died in the riots. The Government of Maharashtra announced compensation to his family. Before this,Nikhil Tikone of Kasba Peth was targeted by Hindus as photo of him spreaded via whatsapp saying him as "Nihal Khan" during communal tensions. Muslims too attacked him believing that he was associated with RSS.
Mahua Moitra is an Indian politician and investment banker serving as Member of Parliament,Lok Sabha from Krishnanagar. She contested and won the seat in the 2019 Indian general election as an All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) party candidate.
The 2018 Bhima Koregaon violence refers to violence during an annual celebratory gathering on 1 January 2018 at Bhima Koregaon to mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Bhima Koregaon. The violence and stone pelting by crowd on the gathering resulted in death of a 28-year old youth and injury to five others. The annual celebration,also called Elgar Parishad convention,was organised by retired justices B. G. Kolse Patil and P. B. Sawant. Justice Sawant stated that the term "Elgar" meant loud invitation or loud declaration.
Vijaya Kamlesh Tahilramani is a former Indian judge and prosecutor,who last served as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. Previously,as a judge of the Bombay High Court,she notably upheld the conviction of several persons for the rape of a pregnant Muslim woman during the 2002 Gujarat riots,chastising investigative authorities for their inaction in the matter,and also refused parole for those convicted in the 1993 Bombay bombings. Bharati Harish Dangre is a sitting judge of the Bombay High Court in Maharashtra,India. Dangre has adjudicated in several significant cases concerning constitutional law,including the validity of affirmative action in the form of reservations for the Maratha caste in Maharashtra,the interpretation of child sexual abuse laws in India,and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax in India.
Anuja Prabhudessai is a judge of the Bombay High Court,in Maharashtra,India. She is the first woman from Goa to be a High Court judge in India.
Pushpa Virendra Ganediwala is an Indian lawyer. She was previously an additional judge of the Bombay High Court,but resigned in 2022,after the Supreme Court of India took the unusual step of refusing to confirm her appointment to the High Court as permanent,after she delivered several controversial judgments concerning cases of sexual assaults against women and children.

Roshan Dalvi is a former judge of the Bombay High Court,in Maharashtra,India. She adjudicated a number of widely reported and significant cases during her career as a judge,including the dispute between the children of Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray regarding their inheritance,and the challenge to a Maharashtra law forbidding dancers in bar from carrying on their profession.
