Mrinal Das

Mrinal Das (14 January 1948 [1] ) is an Indian trade unionist.

Mrinal Das was elected general secretary of the Bengal Provincial Students Federation in 1970. He also became a member of the all India secretariat of the Students Federation of India. Later Das became involved in trade union activism. In 1986 he was elected as one of the secretaries of the West Bengal State Committee of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU). He was also included in the national working committee of CITU, posts he would hold until recently. Das was known as a leader of the hardline tendency in CITU. [2] He was a member of the West Bengal State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for a time.

Mohammed Salim is an Indian Communist politician, belonging to the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was inducted in the politburo of CPI(M) in the 21st party congress organised at Visakhapatnam in 2015. He was a member of the 16th Lok Sabha, representing Raiganj constituency. Earlier, he was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha, representing the Calcutta North East constituency of West Bengal. After delimitation, in the 2009 Lok Sabha election Salim contested the new Calcutta North constituency, and lost to Sudip Bandyopadhyay of the Trinamool Congress.

Gurudas Dasgupta was an Indian politician and a leader of the Communist Party of India. In the 1950s and 60s, he held several offices as a student leader. Later he was a member of Rajya Sabha for three terms from 1985 to 2000 and of Lok Sabha for two terms from 2004 to 2014.

Basudeb Acharia is an Indian politician and a leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) political party. His ancestors were originally from Present-day Tamil Nadu, who settled in Bengal in 16th Century. He considers himself to be a Bengali.
