Bayan Lepas is a town within the Malaysian state of Penang. It is located within the Southwest Penang Island District, near the southeastern tip of Penang Island. Founded in the 19th century, Bayan Lepas is home to the Penang International Airport and an eponymous Free Industrial Zone, dubbed the Silicon Valley of the East due to its size. Various multinational electronic and engineering firms, including Bosch, Motorola, Dell, Intel and Hewlett-Packard, have set up factories and assembly plants within the town.

The Permas Jaya-Pasir Gudang Road orJohor Bahru East Coast Highway, Federal Route 35, is a major highway in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. It is a toll free highway and part of the Iskandar Malaysia project. This 13.4 km highway connects Bakar Batu in city centre to the town of Pasir Gudang, and passes through Bandar Baru Permas Jaya and Taman Rinting. This highway also passes through Permas Jaya Bridge and is the alternative way to Pasir Gudang besides Pasir Gudang Highway. Johor Bahru East Coast Highway is the fourth east–west-oriented expressway in the Iskandar Malaysia area after the Pasir Gudang Highway, the Pontian–Johor Bahru Link of the Second Link Expressway and the Senai–Desaru Expressway.
Xpress Air was a domestic regular airline that offered direct flights to the eastern parts of Indonesia, with its first flight in 2005, and from 2014 international routes to Malaysia. Beginning with two Boeing 737s, Xpress Air was the first privately owned, scheduled airline to connect Jakarta to 24 domestic destinations like Makassar, Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari and Jayapura. Makassar was a main hub for all flights coming from Java to the eastern cities of Indonesia, while Sorong was a second hub in Papua, connecting remote places surrounding the West Papua area. The airline ceased all operations in 2021.

Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway or Federal Route 3113, is an expressway in Penang, Malaysia, that connects the city of George Town to Batu Maung. This 17.84 km (11.09 mi) expressway stretches along the eastern coast of Penang Island. It was erected on 7 December 2010 in honour of the former Penang's second chief minister and also the 'Architect of Modern Penang', Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu who died on 24 November that year. There are two sections of the expressway, the Jelutong Expressway and Bayan Lepas Expressway.
