Muden Station(務田駅,Muden-eki) is a railway station on the Yodo Line in Uwajima, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by JR Shikoku and has the station number "G45".^[1]^[2]

The Yodo Line is a railway line in Shikoku, Japan, operated by Shikoku Railway Company. It connects Shimanto in Kōchi Prefecture and Uwajima in Ehime Prefecture. Its name comes from the ancient provinces of Iyo (伊予) and Tosa (土佐), which the line connects.

Uwajima is a city located in Ehime Prefecture, Japan.

Ehime Prefecture is a prefecture in northwestern Shikoku, Japan. The capital is Matsuyama.

Layout

History

The station opened on 18 October 1914 as a through-station on the narrow-gauge line from Uwajima to Chikanaga owned by the Uwajima Railway(宇和島鉄道). With the nationalization of Uwajima Railway on 1 August 1933, the station came under the control of Japanese Government Railways (JGR), later becoming Japanese National Railways (JNR).

The pilgrimage is traditionally completed on foot, but modern pilgrims use cars, taxis, buses, bicycles, or motorcycles. The standard walking course is approximately 1,200 kilometres (750 mi) long and can take anywhere from 30 to 60 days to complete.
