Muhammad Samad (born 1956) [1] is a Bangladeshi academic,administrator and poet. [1] He was the former Pro-Vice Chancellor the University of Dhaka. [2]
Samad was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2020 for his contribution to poetry. [3]
Samad serves as the president of Jatiya Kabita Parishad (National Poetry Council). [1] His published collections of poetry include Ekjan Rajnaitik Netar Manifesto,Aami Noi Indrajit Megher Araley,Porabey Chandan Kath,Cholo,Tumul Brishtitey Bhiji,Sharater Akashey Purnima and Premer Kabita. [1]

He played a significant role to implement Bengali in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He wrote Jathashabdo (1974),the first thesaurus in the Bengali language.

Abdul Gaffar Choudhury was a Bangladeshi-born British writer,journalist,columnist,political analyst and poet. Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal was a Bangladeshi songwriter,poet,essayist,critic and presenter. In his early life,he was a singer on East Bengal radio and television. He was a professor of Bengali literature at the University of Rajshahiin 1966 and became professor at University of Chittagong in 1973,also worked for the government as the Director General of the Bangla Academy from 1986 until his death. He was awarded Ekushey Padak by the Government of Bangladesh in 1987. He published only three collections of poetry before he died of a heart attack in 1989.
