Muhibullo Abdulkarim Umarov

Moyuballah Homaro or Muhibullo Abdulkarim Umarov is a citizen of Tajikistan who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba. [1] According to the Department of Defense, he was born on October 6, 1980, in Alisurkhan, Tajikistan. His Internment Serial Number was 729.

Identity

The first official list, of all Guantanamo detainees, who had been held in military custody, the US Department of Defense released, on May 15, 2006, listed his name as Moyuballah Homaro. [3]

Capture and Guantanamo detention

Umarov traveled to Pakistan, as a refugee from Tajikistan's civil war, in 1994, where he finished his education. [1] In May 2001, when he graduated, a new Tajikistan government gave him a passport. Umarov returned to Pakistan, seeking work, on his legitimate passport. He was caught up in round up of foreigners following Pakistan's first suicide bombing, in May 2002. Pakistan handed him over to the Americans, and he spent several months in Bagram, and two years in Afghanistan.

When Umarov was eventually released from Guantanamo the Americans did not return his passport. Instead they gave him a letter saying they no longer regarded him as a threat. Umarov says this letter, and his lack of real identity documents is a constant source of threats to his safety.

Bagram

Umarov spent several months in an American prison in Bagram airport.

In two months at bagram, Umarov says, he had only one interrogation -- with an American woman who questioned him in Persian [ sic ] and seemed confused as to why he was there. 'We were along in the room,' he says. 'She checked my documents and listened to my answers, then told me I wasn't guilty.' ... [1]

Guantanamo

Nevertheless Umarov, Abdughaffor and Mazharuddin, the two other Tajik men he was captured with, were sent to Guantanamo in early August 2002.

Salah Abdul Rasool Al Blooshi is a Bahraini, who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba.

Martin Mubanga

Martin Mubanga is a joint citizen of both the United Kingdom and Zambia. He was held, without charge, and interrogated at the American prison at Guantanamo Bay for 33 months.

Richard Dean Belmar is a British man who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States's Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. He was first detained in Pakistan in 2002 and sent to Bagram Theater Internment Facility, then Guantanamo. He was not charged, and was returned to the United Kingdom on 25 January 2005.

Ghassan Abdullah Ghazi al-Sharbi is a Saudi currently held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number is 682. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona with a degree in electrical engineering. The US Department of Defense reports that he was born on December 28, 1974, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Hafiz Mosa Zi Zemmori is a Belgian citizen who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba. His Guantanamo detainee ID number was 270. The Department of Defense reports that his date of birth is August 3, 1978, in Wilrijk, Belgium. He was repatriated to Belgium on April 25, 2005. When he was arrested he was characterized as a Moroccan, or a Belgian, from Morocco, although the DoD says he was born in Belgium.

Abdullah Mujahid is a citizen of Afghanistan who is still held in extrajudicial detention after being transferred from United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba — to an Afghan prison.

Jabir Jubran Al Fayfi is a citizen of Saudi Arabia who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantánamo Bay detention camp, in Cuba on allegations he trained and fought with al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001.

Muhammad Saad Iqbal Pakistani citizen (born 1977)

Muhammad Saad Iqbal is a Pakistani citizen who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. Madni's Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 743. The Department of Defense reports that he was born on October 17, 1977.

Abdul Haq Wasiq Afghan Director of Intelligence since 2021

Abdul Haq Wasiq is the current Director of Intelligence of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan since September 7, 2021. He was previously the Deputy Minister of Intelligence in the former Taliban government (1996–2001). He was held in extrajudicial detention in the Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba, from 2002 to 2014. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 4. American intelligence analysts estimate that he was born in 1971 in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan.

Omar Abdulayev

Omar Hamzayevich Abdulayev, also known as Muhammadi Davlatov, is a citizen of Tajikistan, held in extrajudicial detention in the United States's Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. The Department of Defense reports that Abdulayev was born on October 11, 1978, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. He arrived at Guantanamo on February 9, 2002.

Jawad Jabber Sadkhan is a citizen of Iraq who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba. Sadkhan's Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 433.

Karam Khamis Sayd Khamsan(also transliterated as Karama Khamis and Khamis Al-Mulaiki) is a citizen of Yemen who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 586. American intelligence analysts estimate that Khamsan was born in 1969, in Al Mahra, Yemen. He was repatriated without ever been charged on August 19, 2005.

Inayatullah, born Hajji Nassim (1974–2011) was a citizen of Afghanistan who was arrested in 2007 and transferred that year to be held as an enemy combatant in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 10028. Nassim was held in Guantanamo for 3 years, 8 months, and 22 days until his death by apparent suicide. The US claims he admitted being an al Qaeda leader, but Nassim denied this in numerous interrogation sessions. The US military claims he was headquartered in Zahedan, Iran. Nassim was the 19th captive to have been transferred to Guantanamo since September 6, 2006.

Rafiq Bin Bashir Bin Jalud al Hami is a citizen of Tunisia, who was formerly held for over seven years without charge or trial in the United States's Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 892. The Department of Defense reports that he was born on 14 March 1969, in Omaron, Tunisia.

Noor Habib Ullah is a citizen of Afghanistan who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States's Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. Habibullah was one of three former captives who McClatchy Newspapers profiled; he also appeared in a BBC interview which claimed he was abused while interned at Bagram. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 626.

Munir Naseer is a citizen of Pakistan who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States's Guantanamo Bay detention camps, in Cuba. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 85.

On January 16, 2010, the United States Department of Defense complied with a court order and made public a heavily redacted list of the detainees held in the Bagram Theater Internment Facility. Detainees were initially held in primitive, temporary quarters, in what was originally called the Bagram Collection Point, from late 2001. Detainees were later moved to an indoor detention center until late 2009, when newly constructed facilities were opened.
