Mpandawana [1] is a town and the largest service centre in Gutu, Zimbabwe. In the early years of independent Zimbabwe's economic planning, Mpandawana was designated as a "growth point". [2] By 2012 the settlement had a population of over 30,000 and, in 2014, was granted town status. [3]

Infrastructure

The centre has a post office, [4] shops [2] banking services, schools and a hospital, [5] but there is no resident medical doctor. [5] There are paved streets, [2] including the main east-west road through the settlement. [6] Mpandawana has electricity. [5] Water for the town is supplied from Mushaviri dam. Mpandawana has several residential suburbs, namely Old Location, Tompsky, Hwiru (United Nations), Gonvill, Western suburbs and the newest development, Chomfuli low density suburb.

Banket is a town in the province of Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. It is located about 95 km north-west of Harare on the main Harare-Chinhoyi road. According to the 1982 Population Census, the town had a population of 5,698. The name of the town is derived from banket rock formation: early settlers saw a conglomerate, which they hoped would bear gold, like the banket of the Witwatersrand gold fields. The conglomerate was not gold-bearing, although gold was late discovered and, along with chromite, is still mined in the area. Cattle, maize, cotton and tobacco are commercially farmed in the area.

Gutu is the third largest district in Masvingo Province, southern Zimbabwe, after Chiredzi and Mwenezi. It is the northernmost district in the province. The name "Gutu" is historically reported to have emerged from "Chinomukutu wemiseve" – meaning, "the one with a load of arrows". This is according to oral historical folklore of the "Gumbo" clan who are said to have taken over the area from the "Shiri" clan through killing them by poisoning the fruit trees in the "Gona" area. Mupandawana is the largest district service centre. It was designated as a "growth point" during the early years of independent Zimbabwe together with such places as Gokwe in the Midlands Province and Juru in Mashonaland East province. The suburb is can be considered a transitionary area between inner city districts like Milton Park and the leafier suburbs to the north.

Greenwood Park is both a city park and a small urban neighbourhood located in the northeast section of Harare's central business district and is one of the early subdivisions which were created inside Harare, but which lay outside of the original, officially-planned City of Salisbury. Situated two kilometres north of Parliament, Greenwood Park overlaps with the larger and newer neighbourhood of Avenues and is usually considered to be a part of that more prominent locale. The area of Greenwood Park, and is best known for its eponymous park which covers much of the area.
