Museum Sang Nila Utama is a heritage museum in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. The museum collects item related to the Riau-Malay culture such as Malay wedding costumes, traditional toys, musical instruments and other traditional artifacts. Not far from the museum is an exhibition and performance building called the Gedung Taman Budaya Riau ("Riau Cultural Park Building). [2]

The name Sang Nila Utama is derived from a Srivijayan prince from Palembang who founded the Kingdom of Singapore in 1299.

Sang Nila Utama was a Srivijayan prince from Palembang and is the founder of the Kingdom of Singapura in 1299. His official title adopted upon his coronation was Sri Tri Buana, which can be translated as "Lord of Three Worlds"; the "Three Worlds" may refer to the three realms of the universe – the overworld/heaven of the gods, the world of humans, and the underworld of demons or his lordship over Java, Sumatra and Temasek/Singapura. This title is attested to elsewhere in Southeast Asia.

Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport, is an international airport that serves the city of Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. The airport is often referred to as SSK II, SSK or Sultan Syarif Qasim II International Airport, and formerly known as Simpang Tiga Airport. Soeman Hs Indonesian author

Soeman Hasibuan better known by his pen name Soeman Hs, was an Indonesian author recognized for pioneering detective fiction and short story writing in the country's literature. Born in Bengkalis, Riau, Dutch East Indies, to a family of farmers, Soeman studied to become a teacher and, under the author Mohammad Kasim, a writer. He began working as a Malay-language teacher after completing normal school in 1923, first in Siak Sri Indrapura, Aceh, then in Pasir Pengaraian, Rokan Hulu, Riau. Around this time he began writing, publishing his first novel, Kasih Tak Terlarai, in 1929. In twelve years he published five novels, one short story collection, and thirty-five short stories and poems.

Riau Malay is the original form of Malay, which is directly derived from Old Malay. This form of language is used as the basis for Standard Malay, which is a variety of standard for Malay which is used semi-formally in Riau Province and Riau Islands Province, and is also used officially in Brunei, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Siak Malay or Bahase Melayu Siak is a dialect which belongs to Riau Malay dialect. Siak Malay is spoken in Siak Regency and Pekanbaru City as well as the Riau coast in general. This language is also recognized as language of unity in Pekanbaru City.
