Sir Richard Starkey, better known by his stage name Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who achieved international fame as the drummer for the Beatles. He occasionally sang lead vocals with the group, usually for one song on each album, including "Yellow Submarine" and "With a Little Help from My Friends". He also wrote and sang the Beatles songs "Don't Pass Me By" and "Octopus's Garden", and is credited as a co-writer of others.

It reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks, starting the week ending March 10, 1962.

The single was the second release from the album Love Crazy and peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart. "Masterpiece" also went to number three on the Hot 100 and number two on the Hot Adult Contemporary chart. The song performed well in Canada, peaking at number 15 on the RPM Top Singles chart and number one on the RPM Adult Contemporary chart.
