My Mom Is Kinda Homeless is an Internet meme that originated in 2021 from a Fortnite segment during a livestream titled "Early Stream!" (stylized in all caps) created by YouTube streamer IShowSpeed. The meme features a clip where a player, identified as "Acey Daddy" cries while making a desperate plea to "throw the game", saying "my mom is kinda homeless". This is immediately followed by a second player, "Pew is Daddy", who criticizes IShowSpeed for his reaction, stating:

Contents

"Speed, I'm watching your stream. Why are you trying not to laugh, bruh? That's disrespectful as shit, bruh. The fuck is wrong with you, bruh? Stop fucking laughing, bruh! Look at you smiling, bruh. You're disrespectful as shit, bruh. You don't like your fans? You don't like your fans? Why are you laughing at your fans, bruh? Nah, real shit, disrespectful as shit, bruh; I'm not fucking laughing, Speed."

The livestream was added to IMDb, earning a 10/10 rating, but was removed shortly after.

Background

Darren Jason Watkins Jr., known online as IShowSpeed, is an American YouTuber, rapper and streamer born in Cincinnati, Ohio. [1] [2] He created his YouTube channel in 2016, initially posting gameplay content on an occasional basis. [3] By December 2017, Speed began regularly livestreaming various games, primarily including NBA 2K and Fortnite . [4]

Speed's career gained significant notoriety in 2021 for his often-energetic behavior during live streams towards games, players, and his camera. This behavior generated loads of memes across social media platforms, quickly establishing him as one of the biggest and fastest-rising streamers of that year on YouTube. [3] [4]

Origin

On December 29, 2021, IShowSpeed went live on YouTube on a stream named Early Stream!, for nearly four and a half hours, where he mostly played Five Nights at Freddy's and Fortnite. [5] It was during a 1v1 in his Fortnite gameplay, at the minute 2:08:05, where a 12 year old player nicknamed "Acey Daddy" desperately asks Speed to "throw the game", in his words: [6]

"Please, Speed, I need this! My mom is kind of homeless... I live with my dad. I wanna help her out."

Speed immediately after hearing the phrase starts holding his laughter, puckering his lips, and closing his eyes, likely due to the thought of one being "kind of homeless". [7] He then gets called out by Pew Is Daddy for almost breaking in laughter: [7]

"Speed, I'm watching your stream. Why are you trying not to laugh, bruh? That's disrespectful as shit, bruh! The fuck is wrong with you, bruh? Stop fucking laughing, bruh! Look at you smiling bruh! You disrespectful as shit!"

His expression changes to a serene smile while Pew continues to ask Speed why he was still trying not to laugh, stating how it was "disrespectful as shit", and asking "[what] the fuck was wrong with him", [7] meanwhile Acey's cry was able to be heard in the background with the situation, also asking Speed if he was laughing at him.

Reception

The livestream Early Stream! was added to IMDb, earning a 10/10 rating, but was removed shortly after. [8] [9] [10]

Reunion

In October 2025, almost four years after the original stream, IShowSpeed reunited with the players known as "Acey Daddy" and "Pew is Daddy" to recreate the viral clip on Fortnite . For the reunion, IShowSpeed wore the same Adidas hoodie and ski mask he wore on the original stream. During the event, IShowSpeed offered to purchase a house for Acey's mother if he could beat him in a 1v1 match. When asked about his mother's living situation, Acey responded: "Nah, nah, she kinda financially stable now," to which IShowSpeed replied: "I'm happy, bro." [7] After Acey successfully defeats him on Fortnite, Speed called Acey’s mother and confirmed that he would soon purchase a home for her. [11]
