Myers's Rum is a brand of Jamaican rum produced by Sazerac. Named after brand founder Frederick Louis Myers, the molasses-derived blend of up to nine rums has been produced since 1879. Myers's rum uses "only pure Jamaican molasses" and is "produced from continuous and pot still distillation and is then matured for up to four years in white oak barrels". [1]

The dark rum is commonly used in mixed drinks. It is also a common cooking ingredient in a variety of both sweet and savory recipes.

In November 2018, Diageo sold Myers's Rum and various other brands to the Sazerac Company for $550 million. [2] It was part of a deal that saw the UK-based group increase its focus on premium spirits. The deal was announced in 2018, with the view that it would be completed in early 2019. [3] It was instead completed before the end of the year and encompassed the sale of 19 brands, including Myers’s Rum. Sazerac changed something in their version which is noticeably different from Diageo's, a decision that left lovers of the true original dark Myers Rum with a sour taste in their mouths. [4]

Canadian whisky is a type of whisky produced in Canada. Most Canadian whiskies are blended multi-grain liquors containing a large percentage of corn spirits, and are typically lighter and smoother than other whisky styles. When Canadian distillers began adding small amounts of highly-flavourful rye grain to their mashes, people began demanding this new rye-flavoured whisky, referring to it simply as "rye". Today, as for the past two centuries, the terms "rye whisky" and "Canadian whisky" are used interchangeably in Canada and refer to exactly the same product, which generally is made with only a small amount of rye grain.

Indian whisky Type of distilled liquor produced in India

As of 2006 most distilled spirits labelled as "whisky" in India were a form of Indian-made foreign liquor, commonly blends based on neutral spirits that are distilled from fermented molasses with only a small portion consisting of traditional malt whisky, usually about 10 to 12 percent. Outside India, such a drink would more likely be labelled a rum. According to the Scotch Whisky Association's 2013 annual report, unlike in the European Union (EU), "there is no compulsory definition of whisky in India, and the Indian voluntary standard does not require whisky to be distilled from cereals or to be matured. Very little Indian 'whisky' qualifies as whisky in the EU owing to the use of molasses or neutral alcohol, limited maturation and the use of flavourings. Such spirits are, of course, considerably cheaper to produce than genuine whisky." Such molasses-based blends made up 90 percent of the spirits consumed as "whisky" in India in 2004, although whisky wholly distilled from malt and other grains, was also manufactured and sold. By 2004 shortages of wheat had been overcome and India was one of the largest producers. Amrut, the first single malt whisky produced in India, was launched in Glasgow, Scotland in 2004. After expanding in Europe it was launched in India in 2010.
