Nexx (stylised as NEXX) is a Swedish pop/dance band from Stockholm. Formed in 2004/2005, band consists of three members: Johanna "Jo" Eriksson, Robert Skowronski and Sebastian Zelle. They are most known for song "Synchronize Lips", which reached number 2 in the Romanian Top 100.

History

The band owes its starts to Supernatural, a band formed in 2002 to take part in the second season of the Swedish music competition series Popstars broadcast on Kanal 5. Supernatural included both Robert Skowronski and Sebastian Zelle in addition to Mathilda Carmbrant, Sandra Leto, Linda Eriksson. Both Skowronski and Zelle had passed the auditions to be included. Supernatural went on to win season 2 of Pop Star and went on tour in 2002 and 2003. The band released the album Dreamcatcher that topped Sverigetopplistan, the Swedish Albums Chart. The band released its debut single "Supernatural" that topped the Swedish Singles Chart, followed by "Rock U" reaching number 3 and a final hit "Kryptonite" all in 2002.[ citation needed ]

At the end of 2004, ex-members of Supernatural formed the group Natural Ex as a new musical project, with Skowronski and Zelle writing new songs in their studio in Stockholm for the project. The band Natural Ex included Susanna Patoleta, part of Excellence winner of Swedish Popstar in season 1 in 2001. Natural Ex' debut single was "Stay by My Side" that appeared in the Swedish Dance Chart and had an active radio run, It was also popular in Finland, Poland and Russia.[ citation needed ]

Skowronski and Zelle both had a passion for clubbing and dancing and were influenced by artists like Madonna, Basement Jaxx, Kylie Minogue and 1970s and 1980s disco acts. [3] Robert Skowronski began repetitions in Stockholm for famous ABBA musical, Mamma Mia! , where he became good friend with Johanna "Jo" Eriksson, who was also in the cast. Skowronski and Zelle searched lead female voice for band, and in short time after musical, Jo Eriksson was included in project. The band recorded new materials renamed as N.E.X., NEX and eventually NEXX and toured extensively for two years throughout Sweden, Finland and Latvia.[ citation needed ]

In 2006, a follow-up single for "Stay by My Side" was released titled "Straight to Bed" using the amended name N.E.X. and "Don't Go", a cover of the Yazoo hit. Both had airplays on Swedish dance radio.[ citation needed ]

In 2007 NEXX began collaborating with top Swedish producer Jonas Von Der Burg, who also worked with September, Danny, Alcazar. Along with him and Ivan Lisinski (Bananarama and Dani Minogue) they wrote the song "Synchronize Lips", which became in a short time a big hit single in several countries, including Poland and Romania. On 9 August 2008 NEXX took part in Sopot Hit Festival, where it ranked third in category International hits, with the song "Synchronize Lips". NEXX toured Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Romania, Moldova and Poland promoting the single.[ citation needed ]

On 24 April 2009 NEXX won the Eska Award in category "ImprEskowy Hit Roku" for the song "Syncronize Lips". [4] First band album, also titled Synchronize Lips, was released also in Romania. [5] On 18 April 2009 it reached number #2 on the Romanian Top 100 staying 10 weeks in the Top 10 in Romania and 6 weeks in the "Dance Chart" on the local Music Channel. [6] The song "Synchronize Lips" was also named "Debut of the Year" by Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA). [7]

During 2009 Romanian Music Awards ceremony, NEXX performed as guest artists. [8] [9] [10] [11] In 2011 NEXX released their new song "Put Your Hands" featuring vocals by the Romanian singer Marius Nedelcu. [7] [12] [13]

Supernatural was a Swedish pop group that consisted of the winners of the second season of the Swedish reality TV show Popstars. In Sweden the show was broadcast on Kanal5 in 2003. The band had several hits with songs like Supernatural and Rock U. Supernatural was expected to take part in the Swedish precursor selections for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 but its record label did not publicize the band sufficiently and the members subsequently split up in 2004 after arguments with their record label.

Wassabi were a Romanian musical girl group established in 2006 under the management of Marius Moga, who also wrote many of their songs. The band was made up of Laura Petrescu, Veronica Tecaru, Ramona Sora, and Luisa Luca.

Dalma is a Romanian pop/jazz singer and occasional television actress of Hungarian descent. Dalma became well known in Romania after she became the winner of TVR 1's show "Faimoșii" in 2007, but mostly after she qualified in the Romanian national final of Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song Love Was Never Her Friend, composed by Romanian composer Marius Moga, and placed sixth in the big final. Even if the song did not get the first place, it received considerable airplay in Romania. Because she is popular in her country, Dalma received an offer from Walt Disney Pictures and provides the singing voice of Elsa in the Romanian dubbed version of Frozen, the singer of the main theme from the movie “Tinkerbell and Legend of the Neverland Beast”.

"Hot" is the debut single by Romanian singer Inna, released on 12 August 2008. It is from her debut studio album of the same name (2009). The song was written and produced by Play & Win members Sebastian Barac, Radu Bolfea and Marcel Botezan. Musically, "Hot" is a trance-inspired electro house song, with its instrumentation consisting of synthesizer sounds and trance beats. Throughout the track, the hook is repeated multiple times, and male vocals are used to complement Inna.

Adrian Claudiu Sînă, better known as Adrian Sina or simply Adi Sina, is a Romanian singer-songwriter, record producer, radio DJ and entertainer. He is best known for creating, producing and singing in the dance group Akcent and also for writing and producing mainstream hit songs for himself and other international artists. He started out as a disc jockey in the 1990s and then created a group with his fellow musician Ramona Barta. He came to prominence as a member of Akcent with the song "Ultima vară" in 1999. His group was joined by Marius Nedelcu, Sorin Brotnei and Mihai Gruia. Bosquito is a Romanian rock band formed in Brașov in the year 1999. The group's current line-up consists of vocalist/guitarist Radu Almășan, drummer Dorin Țapu, guitarist Ciprian Pascal, bassist Mircea “Burete” Preda. The band is well known for infusing their songs with diverse influences, including Gypsy music, Latin, balkan, punk, and elements of symphonic music. The track was initially released as "Dragoste de închiriat" on 28 January 2005, before being re-released in June in English under its current title. "Jokero" is a song by Romanian group Akcent for their fifth studio album French Kiss with Kylie (2006). Marius Nedelcu wrote the song, while Adi Colceru and Adrian Sînă produced it. The song was officially released on 17 December 2005, when it premiered on a Romanian radio station. In February 2006, "Jokero" was announced as one of the competing songs in Selecția Națională 2006, an event used to determine Romania's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. Akcent asked Romanian singer Nico to perform the track with them for the competition. The song came second overall, losing to Mihai Trăistariu's "Tornerò" (2006), though it won the public vote.
