Nitro Chiral, currently stylized as NITRO CHiRAL, formerly stylized as Nitro+CHiRAL, is a BL game brand owned by Japanese visual novel company Nitroplus, created in 2004.

History

The company was formed in 2004 and released their first work, Togainu no Chi , in 2005. [1] Their second game, Lamento: ~BEYOND THE VOID~ was released in 2006. [2] A fan disc named Chiral Mori was released in 2008. It is an amusement disc that includes three minigames and features the characters of their first two games. [3] While Togainu no Chi and Lamento were adult games, Chiral Mori was given an approval for all ages. Their third game, Sweet Pool was also released in 2008 for adults only. [4] During the same year, Togainu no Chi was re-released on PlayStation 2 for ages 15+ and called Togainu no Chi True Blood. [5]

In 2010, Togainu no Chi was ported to the PSP handheld consoles as Togainu no Chi True Blood Portable. [6] Nitro+chiral released their fourth game, Dramatical Murder , in 2012. [7] A fan disc of Dramatical Murder called Dramatical Murder re:connect and featuring additional scenes and songs was released in 2013. [8] A 15+ PlayStation Vita port of the game called Dramatical Murder re:code was released in 2014. [9] In 2015, Togainu no Chi was ported to iPhone and Android devices; both versions are based on the PlayStation 2 port for ages 15+. [10] In 2016, Nitro+chiral re-released Togainu no Chi, Lamento: Beyond the Void and Sweet Pool for the Windows 10 operating system. [11] [12] [13] In 2021, Nitro+chiral released their fifth game, Slow Damage. Within the same year, a browser based mobile side story called Slow Damage: Clean Dishes was released, featuring all new characters within the same setting as its original game.

On July 4, 2018, it was announced at the Anime Expo that JAST USA's new JAST Blue branch, which focuses on boys-love games, will release Nitro+CHiRAL's visual novel titles in English. [14]

On June 14, 2021, JAST Blue announced that they will be postponing their localization of Lamento -Beyond the Void- indefinitely. [15]

Togainu no Chi is a Japanese BL visual novel created by Nitro+CHiRAL. The plot centers on Akira, a young man who is made to participate in a deadly game called "Igura" in post-apocalyptic Japan in exchange for being freed from prison. His goal is to beat "Il Re", the strongest person in Igura. The game was originally released on PC as Togainu no Chi in 2005, with a PlayStation 2 version titled Togainu no Chi TRUE BLOOD being released on May 29, 2008. A PlayStation Portable version was released on December 23, 2010 under the name of Togainu no Chi True Blood Portable.

The Song of Saya is a horror eroge visual novel (VN) by Nitroplus. The original plot was written by Gen Urobuchi, who took inspiration from reading Lovecraft novels during a lonely time in his life.

Chaos;Head is a 2008 science fiction visual novel video game developed by 5pb. and Nitroplus. It is the first game in the Science Adventure series. Following the original Windows release, the enhanced version Chaos;Head Noah was released for Xbox 360 in 2009, and has since been ported to multiple platforms. An English localization was released by Spike Chunsoft for Nintendo Switch and Windows in 2022. The game follows Takumi Nishijou, who gets involved in the "New Gen" serial murder case. He frequently experiences delusions and hallucinations, some of which the player can influence, which affects the progression of the story.

Full Metal Daemon: Muramasa is a Japanese visual novel developed and published by Nitroplus for Windows. It was released in Japan on October 30, 2009. An English localisation by JAST USA was released on August 25, 2021. The game is regarded as a masterpiece in the visual novel community. It is also one of JAST USA's most successful releases.

<i>Guilty Crown</i> Japanese anime television series and its franchise

Guilty Crown is a 2011 Japanese anime television series produced by Production I.G which aired on Fuji TV's noitamina program block from October 13, 2011. The story revolves around Shu Ouma, a high school boy who comes into possession of an ability called the "Power of the King" allowing him to draw out items called "Voids" from other people. He is then thrown into the conflict between a quasi-governmental organization known as GHQ and a rebel organization called Funeral Parlor which aims to restore Japan's independence from the GHQ. In the process, Shu has to deal with the burden his ability puts on his shoulders and the horrific mystery of his past.

Gen Urobuchi is a Japanese novelist, visual novel writer and anime screenwriter. He is known for being the co-creator of the highly acclaimed and commercially successful anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica, which earned him the Tokyo Anime Award for Best Scriptwriter, as well as the writer of the 2003 visual novel Saya no Uta, the 2012 anime Psycho-Pass, the light novel and anime Fate/Zero, and the 2013–2014 tokusatsu show Kamen Rider Gaim. He currently works at Nitroplus and Nitro+chiral. Anime written by Urobuchi that have won the Newtype Anime Awards have been Puella Magi Madoka Magica in 2011, Fate/Zero in 2012 and Psycho-Pass: The Movie in 2015.

<i>Dramatical Murder</i> 2012 Japanese visual novel

Dramatical Murder is a Japanese BL visual novel developed and published by Nitro+chiral. It was originally released on March 23, 2012, for Windows PCs as a first press edition, with a regular edition released on April 27, 2012. A sequel titled Dramatical Murder re:connect, also for Windows PCs, was released on April 26, 2013, adding additional scenes, images and songs to the existing routes, as well as four new character routes to play through. On October 30, 2014, a version of the visual novel aimed at ages 15 and above titled Dramatical Murder re:code was released for the PlayStation Vita which removed the sex scenes, toned down the violence, and included an additional route for the character Mizuki.

Super Sonico is a fictional character created by Tsuji Santa for the Japanese computer and video game software company Nitroplus, first appearing as a mascot for a Nitroplus-sponsored music festival in 2006. Nitroplus has since developed the character into a media franchise that includes music products, manga series, computer and video games, toy figurines, and other merchandise. An anime television series by White Fox based on the character aired in Japan between January and March 2014.

Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel is a fighting game developed by Examu's Team Arcana and published by Nitroplus. The game crosses over heroines from various visual novels and games released by Nitroplus, as well as those from manga and anime series that Nitroplus writers have been involved with. The game was released in arcades on April 30, 2015 and was released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in collaboration with Marvelous Entertainment's Marvelous Inc. on December 10, 2015. Marvelous USA published the game in North America on February 2, 2016. It was later released on Windows on December 8, 2016. The game originates from the doujin game Nitro+ Royale: Heroines Duel, which is stated as its predecessor.

It was released for the PlayStation Vita by Idea Factory in 2016 in Japan and by Aksys Games in 2018 in North America and Europe. The player reads through the story, making choices that determine its direction, and takes the role of college student Ichiko Hanamaki, who goes to the town of Okunezato to investigate the disappearance of her brother together with her friend Hino Kagutsuchi.
