Nagoa (Bardez)

Nagoa is a village in the Bardez sub-district of Goa, and lies between the North Goa headquarters town of Mapusa and the tourist-destination and former fishing village of Calangute. It is not to be mixed-up with a village of the same name which lies in the South Goa sub-district of Salcete.

Area, population

According to the official 2011 Census, Nagoa has an area of 154.57 hectares, a total of 351 households, a population of 1,455 (comprising 732 males and 723 females) with an under-six years population of 124 (comprising 64 boys and 60 girls). [1]

Location

The village of Nagoa lies close to Arpora, Saligao and Parra villages of Bardez.

Tourism destination

In recent times, Nagoa in Bardez has become home to many starred tourism. It lies close to Arpora, a region once known for its traditional salt-pans, at times when Goa's salt production was famous and exported far and wide.

Recent issues

The spurt of tourism in the area has also brought in issues like narcotic drugs. [2]

There have been issues of illegal road construction. [3]

It is 10 km from Panjim the capital of Goa, 6 km from Mapusa the capital of Bardez Taluka, and 3 km from the Calangute beach.

Parra is a village on the outskirts of Mapusa town Bardez sub-district, North Goa, India. It has traditionally been known as a village that has grown luscious watermelons. In recent times, the village is facing considerable urbanisation and social change.

Pilerne is a village situated in north Goa in the Bardez taluka of the North Goa district. It is rustic despite being fairly close to the North Goa tourist belt, and is considered a Census Town for the purposes of the Census. The village has mainly been inhabited by Goan Catholics.

Sircaim is a village situated in the Bardez sub-district or taluka of Goa, which lies along the west-coast of India. It lies close to or within the mining belt of North Goa. It is home to a football academy for youth, and a jetty for iron-ore transportation. Nadora is a village at one end of the North Goa taluka, or sub-district, of Bardez. It is divided by the Colvale river from the northernmost Goa taluka of Pernem or Pednem. It lies between Pirna to its east, and Revora to its west.

Pirna is a village in the North Goa sub-district or taluka of Bardez and is located in the northern edge of the sub-district. It is close to the Colvale river and is the home of the 150-metre long Pirna-Ozarim bridge at Thorli Chandai. The bridge connects Pirna in Bardez taluka with Pernem taluka. It was inaugurated in May 2006.

Punola is a small village or hamlet in the North Goa sub-district or taluka of Bardez. It is near the village panchayat of Ucassaim, and St. Elizabeth's Church lies just outsides its boundaries.

Nerul is a village in North Goa's Bardez taluka. It lies along the route to the coastal town of Candolim, with which it is linked via a bridge. For the purposes of the Census, it is considered as a census town.

Canca is a village in the North Goa taluka (sub-district) of Bardez.

Paliem is a village in the sub-district of Bardez in North Goa. It is not to be confused with the village of the same name, that lies in the sub-district of Pernem, a little further to its north.

Betqui or Betki is a village in the Ponda taluka (sub-district) of Goa.

Boma is a village in the Ponda taluka (sub-district) of Goa. It is located in the northern part of Ponda taluka. It is on the road connecting state capital Panjim with the taluka headquarters of Ponda town.
