Nagoya, officially Lubuk Baja, is a district (kecamatan) in Batam, Indonesia, covering 11.426 square kilometers. [1] The population was 80,780 in 2010 Census, [2] while the official estimate of population was 86,277 in mid 2022. [3] However, like other fastest growing cities, Batam Island is becoming a continuous urban sprawl, making its districts denser. [4]
The town was dubbed "Nagoya" after the Japanese city by Japanese engineers from the Taisei Corporation, who came to Batam in the 1970s to work on infrastructure projects. [5]
The district (kecamatan) of Lubuk Baja, Batam, is divided into five villages (desa or kelurahan). [6] These are:
Most of the district's income comes from its business, entertainment, and tourism sector. The best known building is Nagoya Hill Mall, the biggest shopping mall in the district. [7] As a shopping area, it attracts many tourists and locals across the city every week. [7]
The other main sector is the food business. [8] Nagoya is known for its food quality and diversity, ranging from local cuisine to popular fast food restaurants, mostly in the mall. [8] [9]
Nagoya is also home to many shopping stores and retails. Home appliance stores, fashion boutiques, and electronic stores are common in the area, mostly concentrated in the mall and its surroundings. [7]
Most of its tourism comes from hotels. There are numerous hotels in this district, ranging from 2 to 4-star. [7]
The Nagoya Entertainment District (NED) consists of bars, massage parlors, clubs, hotels, and brothels. [10]
Binjai, formally Kota Binjai, is an independent city in the North Sumatra province of Indonesia, bordered by Deli Serdang Regency to the east and Langkat Regency to the west. Binjai is connected to Medan, about 22 km to the east, by the Sumatra highway that goes to Banda Aceh, and effectively forms a part of Greater Medan. The city's population was 181,904 in the 1990 Census, 224,516 in the 2000 Census, 246,154 in the 2010 Census, and 279,302 in the 2020 Census, comprising 139,284 males and 140,018 females. In 2020, a further 47,018 inhabitants lived in Binjai District of Langkat Regency, outside the city limits but immediately north of the city.

The national census of 2000 recorded 1,573,987 people, but by 2010 the regency's population increased by 13.76% to 1,790,431, and at the 2020 Census the total was 1,931,441. Simalungun Regency is a regency in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Its seat was formerly at Pematangsiantar, but this city was in recent years separated from the Regency and made into an independent city (kota), although it remains geographically surrounded by the regency, whose new administrative seat is at Raya. The regency now covers an area of 4,372.5 square kilometres, and at the 2010 census it had a population of 817,720; at the 2020 Census this had risen to 990,246, of whom 497,314 were male and 492,932 were female.
Bandung metropolitan area, officially Bandung Basin or Greater Bandung, is a metropolitan area surrounding the city of Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. It was home to 8.873 million people in mid 2021 and is composed of regencies and cities previously part of the Dutch East Indies era "Central Priangan Residency" administration.
South Tangerang is a city in the province of Banten, Indonesia. Located 30 km (19 mi) on the southwestern border of Jakarta, the city forms part of the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area. It was administratively separated from Tangerang Regency on 26 November 2008. According to the 2020 Census, the city population was 1,354,350 inhabitants, while the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,378,466. The total area is 164.85 km2 (63.65 sq mi). Lembata Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. Established on 4 October 1999 from part of East Flores Regency, the regency covers the island of Lembata, together with three small offshore islands together forming the eastern part of the Solor Archipelago, and has its administrative seat (capital) in Lewoleba. The population of the Regency was 117,829 at the 2010 decennial census and at the 2020 census was 135,930; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 137,630.
East Halmahera Regency is a regency of Halmahera in North Maluku Province of Indonesia. It covers a land area of 6,538.10 km2, and it had a population of 72,880 at the 2010 Census and 91,707 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 92,954. The capital lies at the town of Maba in Kota Maba District.
Sabu Raijua Regency is one of the regencies in the province of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It comprises the three Savu Islands, lying between Sumba and Rote Island in the Savu Sea. The regency was established by Indonesia's Minister of Home Affairs, Mardiyanto, on 29 October 2008, partitioned from Kupang Regency. The population was 72,960 at the 2010 census, and 89,327 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 90,837.
North Minahasa Regency is a regency in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Its capital is Airmadidi. It was originally part of the Minahasa Regency until it was split off and established as a separate regency on 20 November 2003. It covers an area of 1,059.24 km2, and had a population of 188,904 at the 2010 Census; this had risen to 224,993 at the 2020 Census, and the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 229,368. The Regency includes the offshore islands of Bangka and Talisei to the north of Sulawesi, and Mantenang and Naeng Besar to the northwest.
Blitar Regency is a regency in East Java, Indonesia. It covers an area of 1,558.79 km2 and had a population of 1,116,639 at the 2010 Census and 1,223,745 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 1,242,207. Since 2010, its capital has been located in Kanigoro, after sharing the same capital with Blitar city for more than a century. Blitar city is now a separate administrative entity, enclaved within the regency but completely independent from it.
Pasuruan Regency is a regency in East Java, province of Indonesia. The capital of this regency is Bangil. It had a population of 1,512,468 at the 2010 Census and 1,605,969 at the 2020 Census. This total excludes the population of the city of Pasuruan, which lies geographically within this regency but is administratively separate from it. At present, there are moves under way to make Bangil the new administrative centre of Pasuruan Regency, with some offices being transferred from Pasuruan city to Bangil.
