Nancy A. Roseman was the 28th president of Dickinson College in Carlisle,Pennsylvania. A professor of biology,she was dean of the college at Williams College before being selected as Dickinson's first female president in 2013. On 11 April 2016,she announced her resignation as president,effective 30 June 2016. [1]
Roseman was born in New Brunswick,New Jersey [2] and graduated from Metuchen High School in Metuchen in 1976. [3] She graduated from Smith College in 1980,and earned her doctorate in microbiology at Oregon State University in 1987. [4]
She joined the Williams College faculty in 1991. She taught and conducted research on the viral enzyme dUTP diphosphatase. [5] She was dean of the college from 2000 to 2007 and led the construction of Williams' new student center. [6] Subsequently she was director of the Williams-Exeter Programme at Exeter College,Oxford. Williams awarded her an honorary doctorate in 2013. [7]
In 2012,Dickinson College chose Roseman to become the 28th president of the school,succeeding retiring president William Durden on 28 September 2013. [2] She was Dickinson's first female and first openly gay president. The College announced that Roseman would step down as President on July 1,2016.
She is married to Lori van Handel. [4]

Dickinson College is a private liberal arts college in Carlisle,Pennsylvania. Founded in 1773 as Carlisle Grammar School,Dickinson was chartered on September 9,1783,making it the first college to be founded after the formation of the United States. Dickinson was founded by Benjamin Rush,a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence,and named in honor of John Dickinson,a signer of the Constitution who was later the governor of Pennsylvania,and his wife Mary Norris Dickinson. They donated much of their extensive personal libraries to the new college.

William G. Durden is a former president of Dickinson College. He was a Fulbright scholar and a recipient of the Klingenstein Fellowship from Teacher's College,Columbia University.

The Raven's Claw is an all-male senior honorary society at Dickinson College. It was founded in 1896,making it the first society unique to Dickinson College and one of the oldest in the country. Membership is limited to seven senior men who are selected by the seven previous members. The new members are chosen based on a variety of factors,which are speculated to include:campus leadership,a solid academic record,and athletic participation. While those are often the factors associated with membership in the Raven's Claw Society,no one knows for certain how or why members are selected. New members are inducted in a "Tapping Ceremony" which is held on the "Old Stone Steps of Old West." The ceremony is traditionally conducted during commencement weekend. They are called "claws" or "white hats",denoting the white caps they wear around campus to signify unity and loyalty on certain days throughout the year.

She is the Linus Pauling Professor of Chemical Engineering,Bioengineering and Biochemistry at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Lynn C. Pasquerella is an American academic and the 14th president of the American Association of Colleges and Universities. Before she assumed this position,she was the 18th president of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley,Massachusetts,serving from 2010 to 2016.
