Nancy Zhou (born January 5,1993) is a Chinese-American classical violinist. She has performed as a soloist in recital and with orchestras throughout the world. Zhou has been a prizewinner in several major competitions,including first prizes in the 2018 Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition [1] [2] and the 2018 International Music Competition Harbin. [3]
Zhou was born in San Antonio,Texas. She began violin study at age four with her father,Long Zhou,who continued to be her teacher throughout her youth. She graduated from the Keystone School in San Antonio.
Zhou studied with Miriam Fried at the New England Conservatory and also took lessons from Paul Kantor [4] and David Nadien. [5] She graduated from Harvard University in 2017. [6]
Zhou also acknowledges the mentorship of violinists Anne-Sophie Mutter and Weigang Li,as well as of Augustin Dumay, [7] with whom she studied at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo,Belgium,where she earned an Artist Diploma and later held the title of Associate Artist. [8]

Since 2008,she has been sponsored by the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation,frequently collaborating with the German violinist on tours in Europe,Asia,and the U.S. and receiving scholarships generously endowed by the foundation.
Zhou teaches violin as a member of the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. [21] In October 2023,she was announced as the Artist in Residence and Concertmaster for the Santa Cruz Symphony in Santa Cruz,California. [22]

Sarah Chang is a Korean American classical violinist. Recognized as a child prodigy,she first played as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1989. She enrolled at Juilliard School to study music,graduated in 1999,and continued university studies. Especially during the 1990s and early to mid-2000s,Chang had major roles as a soloist with many of the world's major orchestras.
Anne-Sophie Mutter is a German violinist. Born and raised in Rheinfelden,Baden-Württemberg,Mutter started playing the violin at age five and continued studies in Germany and Switzerland. She was supported early in her career by Herbert von Karajan and made her orchestral debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1977. Since Mutter gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s,she has recorded over 50 albums,mostly with the Deutsche Grammophon label,and performed as a soloist with leading orchestras worldwide and as a recitalist. Her primary instrument is the Lord Dunn–Raven Stradivarius violin.
Leonidas Kavakos is a Greek violinist and conductor. He has won several international violin competition prizes,including the Sibelius,Paganini,Naumburg,and Indianapolis competitions. He is an Onassis Foundation scholar. He has also recorded for record labels such as Sony/BMG and BIS. As a conductor,he was an artistic director of the Camerata Salzburg and has been a guest conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra and Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Sirena Huang is an American concert violinist. She has received numerous awards,including First Prize at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis,First Prize at the Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition,First Place at the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians,and Third Place at the Singapore International Violin Competition and the Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition. She has performed with orchestras including the New York Philharmonic,Baltimore Symphony Orchestra,the Cleveland Orchestra,Singapore Symphony Orchestra,and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. Huang was appointed as the first Artist-in-Residence of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in 2011.

The Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition (SISIVC) is a biennial violin competition in commemoration of violinist Isaac Stern,which takes place in Shanghai,China. The inaugural competition took place August–September 2016 offering $100,000 as the first place prize,the largest single cash prize ever in an international violin competition.

Zhou Tian is a Chinese-American composer of contemporary classical music. His Concerto for Orchestra received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Contemporary Classical Composition in 2018,making him the first Chinese-born composer and the second Asian composer honored in that category. His composition have been performed by orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic,San Francisco Symphony,London Philharmonic,Mahler Chamber Orchestra,Pittsburgh Symphony,"The President's Own" United States Marine Band,and Shanghai Symphony,where he served as the Artist-in-Residence. In 2019,thirteen symphony orchestras commissioned his composition “Transcend”in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad's completion. In 2022,he received the Sousa-ABA-Ostwald Award from the American Bandmasters Association,becoming the first Asian-American winner in the award's 66-year history.
