Damien Richard Martyn is an Australian cricket commentator and former cricketer,who played Tests and ODIs. He played for the national team sporadically in 1992–1994 before becoming a regular ODI player from 1999 to 2000 and a regular Test player in 2000 until his retirement in late 2006. He was primarily a right-handed middle-order batsman with a 'classical' technique,known in particular for his elegant strokemaking square of the wicket on the off-side and through the covers. Darren Scott Lehmann is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who coached the Australian national team. He is currently head coach at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. Lehmann made his ODI debut in 1996 and Test debut in 1998. He was on the fringes of national selection for the entirety of the 1990s,and only became a regular in the ODI team in 2001 and Test team in late 2002,before being dropped in early 2005. Primarily an aggressive left-handed batsman,Lehmann was also a part-time left arm orthodox bowler,and gained renown for his disregard for physical fitness and modern dietary regimes. He announced his retirement from first-class cricket in November 2007. Lehmann was a member of the Australian team that won the 1999 Cricket World Cup and the 2003 Cricket World Cup,where in the 1999 final,he scored the winning boundary,and took the winning catch in the 2003 final.
Gregory Scott Blewett is an Australian international retired cricketer who played Test cricket and One-Day Internationals between 1995 and 2000.
Mervyn Dillon,is a former West Indian cricketer who featured as a fast bowler. He emerged at the twilight of both Courtney Walsh and Curtly Ambrose's careers. Dillon soon became the Windies' new bowling spearhead,picking up a sum of 131 wickets in 38 test matches and 130 wickets from 108 one day internationals. Dillon was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy.

The Australia national cricket team toured South Africa from February to April 1994 and played a three-match Test series against the South Africa national cricket team. The tour was Australia's first to South Africa since the end of the apartheid regime which had led to a sporting boycott of the country. Australia's most recent tour to South Africa had taken place in 1969–70 and a planned tour of the country in 1971–72 had been cancelled after the International Cricket Conference had imposed a moratorium on tours in 1970 and following the player withdrawals and protests which accompanied the tour of Australia by the South African rugby union side during 1971. The Australian Cricket Board postponed their proposed tour of Sri Lanka in order to schedule the series,paying A$50,000 compensation to the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka.

The Bangladesh national cricket team played two Test matches and three One Day International (ODI) matches on a mid-year tour of Australia in 2003. They were captained by all-rounder Khaled Mahmud. The South Africa national cricket team toured Australia in the 1993–94 season to play three test matches against Australia in Melbourne,Sydney and Adelaide. These were played from 26 December 1993 to 1 February 1994. The tour was the first made by the South Africa cricket team to Australia in 30 years and was undertaken as the apartheid system was being dismantled in South Africa and the country transitioned to democratic government. Kepler Wessels captained the South Africans in the first two tests. After a hand injury,Hansie Cronje replaced him for the third test. Allan Border was Australia's captain for the series.
Cricket is the most popular summer sport in Australia at international,domestic and local levels. It is important culturally and regarded as the national sport,and is widely played across the country,especially from the months of September to April. It was one of the first of Australia's mainstream sports to be established,having begun in the Colony of New South Wales as early as December 1803. The peak administrative body for both professional and amateur cricket is Cricket Australia.
