Three 6 Mafia is an American hip hop group from Memphis, Tennessee, formed in 1991. Emerging as a horror-themed underground hip hop group, they went on to enjoy mainstream success. The group's 1995 debut album Mystic Stylez became an influential cult classic. They have released music on independent labels such as Prophet Entertainment and their own Hypnotize Minds label, as well as Relativity, Loud, and Columbia Records.

Raised in Brooklyn, he first gained recognition for his ability upon performing live on DJ Clue's Hot 97 radio show. Jackson then signed to Clue's record label Desert Storm Records, in a joint venture with Elektra Records. Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, he signed with Uptown Records, an imprint of MCA Records to record his debut studio album XTC; scheduled for release in 1996, it was ultimately shelved due to its singles failing to chart. He then gained recognition for his guest performance on Nappy Roots' 2002 single "Po' Folks," which peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and led him to sign with Jermaine Dupri's So So Def Recordings, an imprint of Arista Records.

Wooden Leather is the second studio album by American hip hop sextet Nappy Roots from Kentucky. It was released on August 26, 2003 via Atlantic Records. Recording sessions took place at Tree Sound and The Zone in Atlanta, at Emerald Sound Studios in Nashville, at QDIII Soundlab, Blakeslee Recording Company, Larrabee West and Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles, at Manhattan Center Studios in New York City, at Skip Taylor Recording and at Unsung Studios. The production was handled by several high-profile record producers such as David Banner, Jake and the Phatman, Kanye West, Lil Jon, Mike Caren, Mike City, Mr. DJ, Needlz, Raphael Saadiq, along with Brian Kidd, Briss, Freddie "Mac" McIntosh, Organic, Sol Messiah, Troy Johnson, Mr. Collipark and Kevin Freeman. It features guest appearances from Anthony Hamilton, Raphael Saadiq, Aura J, Benjamin "Black" Bush, and the Ying Yang Twins.

Recording sessions took place at Treesound Studios in Atlanta and at the Kitchen Studios. Production was handled by Sol Messiah, James "Groove" Chambers, 3 Kingz, Big Al, Count Justice, Joe Hop, Kevin Freeman, N.A., Vision and Willy Will. The album features guest appearances from Slick & Rose, Anthony Hamilton, Greg Nice, James "Groove" Chambers and Tracy Hill.

Their first as independent artists, Inner state is an Internet mixtape/album which had been intended to precede The Humdinger until that album experienced several delays. "Good Day" is played in the 2016 film The Secret Life of Pets during the scene where a bunch of pets are partying in Buddy's apartment.

Slaughterhouse was an American hip hop supergroup consisting of rappers Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce da 5'9". They released their eponymous debut studio album independently in 2009, and signed to Shady Records, an imprint of Interscope Records to release it's follow up, Welcome to: Our House in 2012. The group disbanded in 2018.

After signing with music producer 9th Wonder's music label It's a Wonderful World Music Group, she released a series of mixtapes and collaborated with Erykah Badu and Talib Kweli.
