Narsinghgarh International Cricket Stadium [3] is an under construction International cricket stadium in Tripura, India. [4] [5] [6] After completion of construction, this stadium will be the home of Tripura cricket team and Tripura women's cricket team. It is owned and operated by Tripura Cricket Association (TCA). The total capacity of the stadium will be 25,000 seats. [7] [8] Once the stadium is built, it will be the first International Cricket stadium in Tripura. [9] [10]

History

In 2017, the Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar has laid the foundation stone of Narsinghgarh international cricket stadium. [11] [12] The stadium will be the second largest stadium in North-East India that could host international matches after Guwahati. [13] [14] The stadium will be built on 14.22 acres of land with an estimated cost of ₹200 Crore. [15] [16] Fifty percent of the funding for the project would be provided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with the remaining costs to be covered by the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA). He served as the MLA of the Tripura Legislative Assembly from the Agartala constituency which he held since 1998 by winning four elections consecutively on INC ticket by handsome margins. In 2018, he contested from Agartala constituency and won on BJP ticket. On 7 February 2022, he quit BJP and resigned from his MLA post. On 8 February he joined the Indian National Congress in Delhi. Again on 23 June 2022, he contested from Agartala constituency and won on INC ticket defeating his nearest rival of BJP by more than 3500 votes.
