Nashikrao Tirpude (16 January 1921 - 19 May 2002) was an Indian politician and first Deputy Chief Minister of the state of Maharashtra. [1]
He belonged to Congress Party. When Indira Gandhi caused a split in the party in January 1978,he gave her support. After Congress (Indira) did well in the next month's assembly election and jointly formed the government with Congress (main faction),he became Deputy CM in the new coalition. [2] [3] [4] [5]
He was born on 16 January 1921 in Ganeshpur. He was a Dalit and Ambedkarite Buddhist. [6] [7] [8] [9]
In 1986,he raised a demand for a separate state of Vidharbh and started Vidarbha movement. [10] [11] [12] In 1995,he had a key role in the formation of All India Indira Congress (Now Dissolved). He was a member of working committee central parliamentary board and President of Maharashtra Pradesh Indira congress Party. [13] [14] [15]
Bal Keshav Thackeray,also known as Balasaheb Thackeray,was an Indian cartoonist and politician who founded the original Shiv Sena,a right-wing pro-Marathi and Hindu nationalist party active mainly in the state of Maharashtra.
Shiv Sena (1966–2022) was a right-wing Marathi regionalist Hindutva-based political party in India founded in 1966 by Bal Thackeray,who was later succeeded by Uddhav Thackeray. The party is split into two parties:the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena which has a new symbol of Mashaal (Torch) and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena (2022–present) which has gotten hold of the original party name and the "bow and arrow" symbol.
Sharadchandra Govindrao Pawar is an Indian politician. Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan was an Indian freedom fighter and politician who served as 8th Minister of Finance from 1970 to 1971 &1971 to 1974. He served as the last Chief Minister of Bombay State and the first of Maharashtra after latter was created by the division of Bombay state. His last significant ministerial post was as the Deputy Prime Minister of India in the short lived Charan Singh government in 1979.
Ramrao Wamanrao Adik was a Maratha politician and a notable lawyer from Maharashtra. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra from 1984 to 1987. Ashok Shankarrao Chavan is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He is the son of the late former Maharashtra Chief Minister Shankarrao Chavan. Abdul Rahman Antulay was an Indian politician. Antulay was a union minister for Minority Affairs and a Member of Parliament in the 14th Lok Sabha of India. Earlier he had been the Chief Minister of the state of Maharashtra,but was forced to resign after being convicted by the Bombay High Court on charges that he had extorted money for a trust fund he managed. Devendra Gangadharrao Fadnavis is an Indian politician currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra since 30 June 2022,alongside Ajit Pawar. He previously held the position of Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 31 October 2014 to 12 November 2019. From 2019 to 2022,he served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and was the President of BJP's Maharashtra state unit from 2013 to 2015. He became Chief Minister at the age of 44,making him the second-youngest in Maharashtra's history after Sharad Pawar.

The 2022 Maharashtra political crisis began on 21 June 2022 in the Indian state of Maharashtra when Eknath Shinde,along with several other MLAs of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition moved to Surat in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-governed Gujarat,throwing the coalition into a crisis.
