Nat Baldwin (born February 21, 1980, in Rochester, New Hampshire) is an American bassist, improvisor, and songwriter known for his solo work and as a former member of Dirty Projectors. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Career

In 2020, Baldwin released a series of experimental works for solo double bass: AUTONOMIA I: Body Without Organs, AUTONOMIA II: Recombinations, and AUTONOMIA III: Endnotes.

He has appeared on many albums such as In Ear Park (2008) by Department of Eagles, Contra (2010) by Vampire Weekend and Shields (2012) by Grizzly Bear. [5]

Tripticks Tapes

In 2020, Baldwin founded Tripticks Tapes, a tape label that has been recognized for showcasing a broad range of improvised and experimental music. [6] [7]

Tripticks releases have been named among the best in music by publications including The Wire , [8] Bandcamp Daily , [9] Burning Ambulance, [10] and The Road to Sound, [11] with notable artists including Weston Olencki, [12] Nick Dunston, [13] Amirtha Kidambi and Luke Stewart, [14] Webb Crawford, [15] Patrick Shiroishi, [16] Travis Laplante and Jason Nazary, [17] Phicus, [18] and Beam Splitter. The word "bitte" is a German word for "please", and "orca" is another name for a killer whale. Frontman David Longstreth states that he liked the way the words sounded together. <i>Everywhere at the End of Time</i> 2016–2019 album series by the Caretaker

Everywhere at the End of Time is the eleventh recording by the Caretaker, an alias of English electronic musician Leyland Kirby. Released between 2016 and 2019, its six studio albums use degrading loops of sampled ballroom music to portray the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Inspired by the success of An Empty Bliss Beyond This World (2011), Kirby produced Everywhere as his final major work under the alias. The albums were produced in Kraków and released over six-month periods to "give a sense of time passing", with abstract album covers by his friend Ivan Seal. The series drew comparisons to the works of composer William Basinski and electronic musician Burial, while the later stages were influenced by avant-gardist composer John Cage.

Fatigue is the second record by Brooklyn-based experimental musician Taja Cheek, under the moniker of L'Rain. It is her first recording with record label Mexican Summer. Fatigue builds on Cheek's experimental compositional approach, drawing from an eclectic collection of genres and employing field recording elements. Instrumentally, it has help from twenty collaborators, who lend the record clavinet, saxophone, and more.
