Natalie Louise Blair (born 16 April 1984) is an Australian actress, best known for her role as Carmella Cammeniti on the Australian television soap opera drama series Neighbours .

Early life

Blair was born to professional soccer player John Blair in Brisbane, Queensland on 16 April 1984. She attended Lourdes Hill College in Hawthorne.

Career

Back in early 2003, Blair auditioned for Neighbours and impressed casting director Jan Russ, but she was not cast. [1] Russ contacted Blair six months later and asked her to audition for the role of Carmella Cammeniti. She was cast on the spot as producers needed to fill the gap left by Delta Goodrem's sudden departure. [1] Blair started filming just after she graduated from school. [2]

In 2005, Blair won "Most Popular New Female Talent" at the 47th Annual Logie Awards. [3] Blair was also nominated in 2007 for both the Silver Logie and Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television. [4] She was again nominated for both awards in 2008. [5] Blair was crowned "Queen of Teen" at the Dolly Teen Choice Awards at Sydney's Luna Park in 2007. [6]

In December 2007, Blair starred in the Spillers Ltd Production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as Snow White at the Music Hall in Shrewsbury. [7] Blair also sang solo and a cappella the first verse of "Once in Royal David's City" at the annual BBC Shropshire "Carols in the Square" event in Shrewsbury on 19 December 2007. [8]

Blair left Neighbours after five years in 2008. She then moved to Los Angeles, but returned home later that year to play chief villain Connie Burns in the feature film Stage Fright. [9] Upon completion of the film, also starring Clare Bowen and Jason Smith, Natalie left Queensland and returned to Los Angeles. [10]

Blair returned to Neighbours in March 2011 for two episodes. [11] Also in March 2011, Natalie began shooting the feature film The Sleeping Warrior, portraying the character of Safia. The film was set for release in 2012. [12] and is a story that connects Hindu spirituality and Australian aboriginal spirituality. [13]

In 2012, Blair returned to Melbourne, Australia to play the lead in the romantic comedy The Groomless Bride. [14] The film also stars underworld figure Chopper Reid.

Personal life

In 2006, after meeting on the set of Voodoo Lagoon, Hoflin was engaged to actor Beau Brady for a year. [15] [16] [17] They quietly separated in January 2007, with their split being confirmed by a Neighbours spokeswoman. [18] The pair reportedly split due to Brady's decision to move to Los Angeles to pursue his career. [18]

Blair began a relationship with her Neighbours co-star David Hoflin in 2008. [19] The pair currently live together in Los Angeles. [20] On 10 March 2012, Fiona Byrne of the Herald Sun reported the couple were engaged. They were married on 4 January 2013 in Warburton, Victoria. [21] Blair and Hoflin welcomed their first child, a son, on 29 July 2016.[ citation needed ]

Connor O'Neill is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Patrick Harvey. He made his first screen appearance during the episode on 19 April 2002. Harvey was still in school when he won the role of Connor. He initially auditioned using an Australian accent, but later re-read for the part in his natural Northern Irish accent. The producers decided this would suit the role of Connor better. The character became well known for his friendship with Toadfish Rebecchi and his relationships with Michelle Scully, Carmella Cammeniti and Serena Bishop. One storyline saw Connor have a one-night stand with Lori Lee, which resulted in the birth of their daughter, Madeleine. Harvey decided to move on from Neighbours, so he could pursue other roles and Connor departed on 30 May 2006. In August 2012, it was announced Harvey had reprised his role for a four-week guest stint and Connor returned on 30 October. He departed on 27 November 2012.

She appeared on a recurring basis from 2003 to 2005, then became a main character from 2006 to 2008, before making a final guest appearance in 2011. Carmella was created as a replacement for Nina Tucker, portrayed by Delta Goodrem, who was written out of the series when Goodrem became ill. Her early storylines, including a romance with Connor O'Neill, were originally intended for Nina. The daughter of a protective gangster father, Carmella was initially a "fun, feisty" character. Ringo's storylines have included his ongoing battle with an eating disorder, a bus crash, a relationship with an older woman, the collapse of a warehouse roof at an illegal dance party and his on-off relationship with Donna Freedman. In July 2010, it was announced that Clark had decided to leave Neighbours. He filmed his final scenes at the end of the month and Ringo made his last credited appearance on 1 October 2010, but was killed off-screen in the next episode.

David Hoflin is a Swedish-born Australian actor. He played Jason Bates in Ocean Girl between 1994 and 1998, and Oliver Barnes in Neighbours between 2007 and 2008.

Oliver Barnes is a fictional character from the Australian television soap opera Neighbours, played by David Hoflin. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 30 January 2007. Oliver is the oldest son of Rebecca Napier and the brother of Declan Napier. Some of Oliver's biggest storylines included discovering that he was adopted, finding his birth parents and becoming a father. Oliver departed the show on 8 August 2008. Hoflin and his co-star Natalie Blair reprised their roles in March 2011 to help facilitate Hall's departure from the show.

Marco later asked Carmella to marry him and on the same day, he was injured in a bush fire. Marco died from his injuries shortly after and he departed on-screen on 2 July 2008.

Richard Huggett is an Australian film, television and theatre actor. After graduating from NIDA in 1988, Huggett guested in an episode of Home and Away, before he was cast as villain Sonny Bennett in E Street. Huggett's character killed four of the show's regulars, before taking his own life, bringing in strong ratings for the soap. Huggett went on to win the Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent in 1991 for his portrayal of Sonny. Huggett next played Glen Donnelly in another soap Neighbours from 1990 until 1992. He only stayed for a year, as he wanted more to pursue more demanding roles. In 1994, Huggett joined short-lived soap Paradise Beach as Sam Dexter and police drama Blue Heelers as supporting character Sean Neale. He has also made guest appearances in various television shows, including Col'n Carpenter, All Saints and Out of the Blue. He appeared in the Australian film Aiyai: Wrathful Soul in 2020 and re-joined the cast of Neighbours as Glen in 2021. In addition to his television and film work, Huggett has also appeared in a number of theatre productions.
