The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, is the national legal deposit library of Wales and is one of the Welsh Government sponsored bodies. It is the biggest library in Wales, holding over 6.5 million books and periodicals, and the largest collections of archives, portraits, maps and photographic images in Wales. The Library is also home to the national collection of Welsh manuscripts, the National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales, and the most comprehensive collection of paintings and topographical prints in Wales. As the primary research library and archive in Wales and one of the largest research libraries in the United Kingdom, the National Library is a member of Research Libraries UK (RLUK) and the Consortium of European Research Libraries (CERL).
Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru (GPC) (The University of Wales Dictionary) is the only standard historical dictionary of the Welsh language, aspiring to be "comparable in method and scope to the Oxford English Dictionary". Vocabulary is defined in Welsh, and English equivalents are given. Detailed attention is given to variant forms, collocations, and etymology.
The Welsh Outlook was a monthly magazine published from 1914 to 1933 in Wales, articulating a political viewpoint of progressive liberalism and cultural nationalism. Its first editor was Thomas Jones and the publication was funded by David Davies, 1st Baron Davies.
Y Fflam was a Welsh-language literary journal published between 1946 and 1952 providing a platform for young Welsh writers. It included poetry, artworks, short fiction, and reviews. Its political viewpoint was strongly radical nationalism.
Efrydiau Athronyddol is a Welsh-language academic journal of philosophy published by University of Wales Press on behalf of the Philosophy Section of the Guild of Graduates of the University of Wales. It contains philosophical papers, book reviews and obituaries.
Archaeologia Cambrensis is a Welsh archaeological and historical scholarly journal published annually by the Cambrian Archaeological Association. It contains historical essays, excavation reports, and book reviews, as well as society notes and accounts of field visits. The journal has included "much valuable material on the manuscripts, genealogy, heraldry, toponymy, folklore and literature of Wales".
Welsh Book Studies / Llyfr yng Nghymru publishes academic and critical articles about past and current publishing in Wales. The magazine was first published in 1998. It contains English and Welsh material. It is published by Canolfan y Llyfr Aberystwyth Centre for the Book, a joint venture between the National Library of Wales, the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and the Welsh Books Council, formed in 1997.
Cambria: A Welsh Geographical Review was a journal published in Wales between 1974 and 1989. Though edited by members of the Geography Departments of Swansea University and Aberystwyth University, the publication was run as an independent business, and production values were basic. Cambria was an annual English-language academic journal containing articles and book reviews on geographical and related topics. It has been digitized by the Welsh Journals Online project at the National Library of Wales.

Reports and Transactions of the Cardiff Naturalists' Society was an annual scientific journal published by the Cardiff Naturalists' Society, containing scholarly articles on geology, archaeology, natural history, and meteorology, as well as book reviews and society notes. The title started in 1867 and ceased publication in 1986. It is being digitized by the Welsh Journals Online project at the National Library of Wales. Scans of volumes 32 to 100 (1899–1986) are currently available.

Proceedings of the South Wales Institute of Engineers is the annual journal of the South Wales Institute of Engineers. It contains scholarly and popular articles on engineering, scientific and economic topics. It was initially published as Transactions of the South Wales Institute of Engineers (Vol. 1, 1859 to Vol. 62, then renamed Proceedings of the South Wales Institute of Engineers, Vol. 63 - Vol. 99. In 1992 it was renamed Engineering South Wales.

The Journal of Welsh Religious History is published by the University of Wales Press on behalf of the Centre for the Advanced Study of Religion in Wales and previously the Welsh Religious History Society. It is an English-language academic journal containing articles, reviews, and news relating to the history of Christianity in Wales. It was originally established in 1984 under the title Journal of Welsh Ecclesiastical History. Since it obtained its current title in 1992, two series were published: First series, Vols. 1 (1993) to 8 (2000); new series Vol. 1 (2001) to Vol. 5 (2005).
Transactions of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion / Trafodion Anrhydedd Gymdeithas y Cymmrodorion is the annual journal of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion, published from 1893. It contains historical and literary essays and reviews. The Transactions series ran alongside the earlier Y Cymmrodor until the latter series came to an end in 1951.
