Negotiation and Conflict Management Research is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Carnegie Mellon University Library Publishing Service.
Negotiation and Conflict Management Research (NCMR) is the flagship journal of the International Association of Conflict Management (IACM) and was founded in 2008. It employs a double-blind review process and is committed to publishing rigorous, ethical, and impactful research in the field of negotiation and conflict management. NCMR is a platform for interdisciplinary and international scholarship as well as individual contributions. The journal encourages a wide range of methodological approaches—quantitative, qualitative, theoretical, conceptual, and mixed methods—and welcomes diverse perspectives that deepen understanding and advance practice in the field.
NCMR publishes research that develops theory and reports empirical findings related to negotiation and conflict management across various levels—interpersonal, intergroup, organizational, societal, and international. It features studies on conflict processes, engagement strategies, negotiation dynamics, and both formal and informal third-party interventions. Topics span numerous contexts, including environmental disputes, crisis and political negotiations, and other areas of disagreement. The journal prioritizes work that contributes to practice and pedagogy, particularly research aimed at fostering empathy, reducing destructive conflict, and advancing peace and justice. NCMR also seeks timely and relevant contributions that address current events as well as longstanding issues in the field.
Negotiation and Conflict Management Research publishes four issues per year. The journal also publishes Special Issues at no fixed intervals. The full list of issues can be found at on the journal's website.
