The Negros Occidental Football Association is a Filipino football association based in Bacolod City. It works under the Philippine Football Federation as provincial football association for the Negros Occidental area. The president of the association is Ricardo Yanson Jr since January 30, 2015. San Carlos, Negros Occidental mayor, Gerardo Valmayor Jr. is Yanson's Vice President. Yanson seceded Carlos Cojuangco as president. [1]

Negros Revolution

The Negros Revolution, now commemorated and popularly known as Al Cinco de Noviembre or Negros Day, was a political movement that in 1898 created a government in Negros Island in the Philippines, informally ending Spanish control of the island and resulting in a government run by the Negrense natives, at least for that part of the archipelago and for a relatively short period. The newly established Negros Republic lasted for approximately three months. American forces landed on the island unopposed on February 2, 1899, ending the island's independence.

Negrenses

The Negrenses, or alternatively Negrosanons, are the native people and cultural group of the island of Negros. Years of migrations and intra-migrations in Negros have created a unique mix of people, culture and languages, with the northwestern half, comprising Negros Occidental, having a Hiligaynon-speaking majority, while the southeastern half, comprising Negros Oriental, having a Cebuano-speaking majority. The indigenous Buglas Bukidnon and Ati peoples, with their interactions and intermarriage with recent migrants from Iloilo and Antique, use a variant of Kinaray-a mixed with Hiligaynon. The Bacolod Metropolitan Area is noted for its distinct dialect of Hiligaynon called Bacolodnon.

It also hosts a sports complex with a stadium. The park is known as the main venue of the Panaad Festival since its establishment in the late 1990s.
