The Cricket World Cup is the international championship of One Day International (ODI) cricket. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), every four years, with preliminary qualification rounds leading up to a finals tournament. The tournament is one of the world's most viewed sporting events and considered as the "flagship event of the international cricket calendar" by the ICC. It is widely considered the pinnacle championship of the sport of cricket.

The Australia men's national cricket team represents Australia in men's international cricket. The New Zealand national cricket team represents New Zealand in men's international cricket. Nicknamed the Black Caps, they played their first Test in 1930 against England in Christchurch, becoming the fifth country to play Test cricket. From 1930 New Zealand had to wait until 1956, more than 26 years, for its first Test victory, against the West Indies at Eden Park in Auckland. They played their first ODI in the 1972–73 season against Pakistan in Christchurch. New Zealand are the inaugural champions of WTC which they won in 2021 and they have also won ICC CT in 2000. They have played in the CWC final twice and the T20 WC final once.

Michael John Clarke is an Australian former cricketer. He was captain of the Australian cricket team in both Test and One Day International (ODI) between 2011 and 2015, leading Australia to victory in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He also served as captain of the Twenty20 International (T20I) side between 2007 and 2010. With his time representing Australia, Clarke won multiple ICC titles with the team: the 2007 Cricket World Cup, the 2015 Cricket World Cup which he was the winning captain, and the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy.

Matthew Scott Wade is an Australian international cricketer who is the interim captain of the Australian cricket team in Twenty20 International cricket. He plays domestic cricket for the Tasmanian cricket team, who he also captains, and for Hobart Hurricanes.

Cricket is the most popular summer sport in Australia at international, domestic and local levels. Steven Peter Devereux Smith is an Australian international cricketer and former captain of the Australian national team in all three formats of the game. The Victoria women's cricket team, previously known as Victorian Spirit, is the women's representative cricket team for the Australian State of Victoria. They play their home games at Junction Oval, St Kilda, Melbourne. They compete in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL), the premier 50-over women's cricket tournament in Australia. They previously played in the now-defunct Australian Women's Twenty20 Cup and Australian Women's Cricket Championships, a competition which they dominated, having won 36 titles.
Shane Keith Warne, nicknamed Warnie, was an Australian international cricketer whose career ran from 1992 to 2007. Warne played as a right-arm leg spin bowler and a right-handed batsman for Victoria, Hampshire and Australia. Considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, he made 145 Test appearances, taking 708 wickets, and set the record for the most wickets taken by any bowler in Test cricket, a record he held until 2007. Patrick James Cummins known as Pat Cummins is a 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup winning captain, Australian international cricketer who captains the Australian cricket team in Test and One Day International cricket. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers ever to play cricket and the best fast bowler of his generation. He is also known for being a handy lower-order batsman.
Eileen Mabel Uebergang was an Australian cricket player. Massey played four Test matches for the Australia national women's cricket team.
The English women's cricket team toured New Zealand and Australia between November 1957 and March 1958. Against New Zealand they played two Test matches, which were both drawn.
