Nepal had planned to compete at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics from 15 to 23 August in Berlin, but both of its entrants dropped out of the competition. [1] [2]

Croatia competed at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics from 15 to 23 August. A team of 5 athletes was announced in preparation for the competition. Selected athletes have achieved one of the competition's qualifying standards. Blanka Vlašić defended her high jump world title.
India' participated in the 2009 World Championships in Athletics held at Berlin from 15–23 August. Six Indian athletes had qualified for the Championships, but none of them won any medal. Only Babubhai Panucha, who competed in the 20 km walk category managed to establish a new National record clocking a time of 1:23:06 beating his own previous record time.
Belgium will compete at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics from 15–23 August. A team of 23 athletes was announced in preparation for the competition. Selected athletes have achieved one of the competition's qualifying standards. The team features a women's 4 x 100 metres relay, which won medals at the 2007 World Championships, and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Jamaica competed at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics from 15–23 August. A team of 46 athletes was announced in preparation for the competition. Selected athletes achieved one of the competition's qualifying standards. The squad had a number of medal hopes for the sprinting events, including Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, and Michael Frater in the men's and Veronica Campbell-Brown, Kerron Stewart, and Shelly-Ann Fraser in the women's. Olympic gold medallist Melaine Walker competed in the 400 metres hurdles and 2007 World Championship silver medallists Maurice Smith, Shericka Williams, and Novlene Williams-Mills also feature.
France will compete at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics from 15 to 23 August. A team of 67 athletes was announced in preparation for the competition. Selected athletes have achieved one of the competition's qualifying standards. Both of the country's medallists from the last Championships, Romain Mesnil and Yohann Diniz, are competing, as well as the emerging talents of Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad and Renaud Lavillenie.
Italy competed at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics, held from August 15 to August 23. On August 3, the Italian national athletics federation (FIDAL) revealed the final team composed of 40 athletes, but on 8 August, after a last test competition in Grosseto, Andrew Howe, in accordance with FIDAL, decided not to compete in Berlin. Just before publishing the team, Faloci, a discus thrower, also decided not to compete.
