First-class cricket,along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket,is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each,although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all.

John Barton "Bart" King was an American cricketer,active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. King was part of the Philadelphia team that played from the end of the 19th century until the outbreak of World War I. King,an amateur from a middle-class family,was able to devote time to cricket thanks to a job set up by his teammates.

He received the C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996,the highest honour bestowed by BCCI on a former player.

Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan (,also known as Venkat,is an Indian former international cricketer and umpire. He was a right arm off break bowler and a lower order batter. He captained the Indian cricket team in test cricket and also at the first two ICC Cricket World Cups in 1975 and 1979. He represented Tamil Nadu and South zone in domestic cricket while also playing for Derbyshire in English county cricket from 1973 to 1975.
Arthur Haygarth was a noted amateur cricketer who became one of cricket's most significant historians. He played first-class cricket for the Marylebone Cricket Club and Sussex between 1844 and 1861,as well as numerous other invitational and representative teams including an England XI and a pre-county Middlesex. A right-handed bat,Haygarth played 136 games now regarded as first-class,scoring 3,042 runs and taking 19 wickets with his part-time bowling. He was educated at Harrow,which had established a rich tradition as a proving ground for cricketers. He served on many MCC committees and was elected a life member in 1864.
Roy Kilner was an English professional cricketer who played nine Test matches for England between 1924 and 1926. An all-rounder,he played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1911 and 1927. In all first-class matches,he scored 14,707 runs at an average of 30.01 and took 1,003 wickets at an average of 18.45. Kilner scored 1,000 runs in a season ten times and took 100 wickets in a season five times. On four occasions,he completed the double:scoring 1,000 runs and taking 100 wickets in the same season,recognised as a sign of a quality all-rounder.
George Gibson Macaulay was a professional English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1920 and 1935. He played in eight Test matches for England from 1923 to 1933,achieving the rare feat of taking a wicket with his first ball in Test cricket. One of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1924,he took 1,838 first-class wickets at an average of 17.64 including four hat-tricks.

Richard Allan Kettleborough is an English international cricket umpire,and former first-class cricketer who appeared in 33 first-class matches for Yorkshire and Middlesex. He was a left-handed top order batsman and occasional right-arm medium pace bowler. He attended Worksop College and was a member of the college cricket XI for a number of years.

Kodimaniyanda Madappa Ashwath Aiyappa was an Indian cricketer. He played three first-class matches for Karnataka in 2001/02. He drowned while trying to save his brother in a reservoir.
