Nevada Bachelors were an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1997. The band's lineup consisted of Robb Benson (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboard), Mike Squires (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Ben Brunn (bass, backing vocals). Dusty Hayes was the band's drummer from their formation until 1999, and was replaced by Jason Finn. They released two studio albums, Carrots & So On (1998) and Hello Jupiter (2000), before disbanding in 2001.

History

Formation and Carrots & So On (1997–1999)

After moving to Seattle in 1991, [1] musician Robb Benson played with a number of bands before forming the Nevada Bachelors with Dusty Hayes (drums) and Ben Brunn (bass) in 1997. [1] Later, adding to the lineup, former Eat the Feeling bassist and former Compass guitarist Mike Squires,. [2] They recorded their debut album entitled Carrots & So On in February 1998 with Johnny Sangster producing, and the band co-producing, at Egg Studios in Seattle, Washington. [3] [4] [5] The album was released on October 13 of that year through Conrad Uno's PopLlama. [4] [6] [7] The album was well received, earning comparisons to Blur, Supergrass, The Police and Bracket. [6] The band toured in support of the album, while they played several shows supporting Death Cab for Cutie. [8] However, by July 1999, Hayes had departed the band and was replaced by Jason Finn formerly of The Presidents of the United States of America, [9] with the Nevada Bachelors supporting Fountains of Wayne the same year. Hello Jupiter and disbanding (1999–2001)

In November 1999, [11] the band recorded their second album entitled Hello Jupiter with producer Martin Feveyear at Jupiter Studios in Seattle, Washington, [12] [13] with the album released on April 11, 2000 through Pop Llama. [11] The same year, Finn, Dave Dederer and Chris Ballew reformed The Presidents of the United States of America [14] [15] while Squires joined Harvey Danger as their live guitarist. [16] By 2001, Benson disbanded the band, citing a lack of focus due to the band members involvements with various projects. [1] Following the breakup, Benson released his first solo EP before forming Dear John Letters with producer, guitarist Johnny Sangster, bassist Richard Davidson and drummer Cassady Laton. [1] However, the band disbanded in 2004 with Benson pursuing a solo career. [17] Squires continued as live guitarist with Harvey Danger before joining The Long Winters [18] then Loaded. [19]

Green Apple Quick Step, often abbreviated as GAQS, is an American rock band from Seattle. Their sound was described as hard-edged, post-grunge rock. The band began as Inspector Luv and the Ride Me Babys in Tacoma, Washington before becoming Green Apple Quick Step, in Seattle, by 1992. The initial lineup under the new name consisted of lead vocalist Tyler Willman, guitarists Daniel Kempthorne and Steve Ross, singer-bassist Mari Ann Braeden, and drummer Bob 'Mink' Martin.

Open Your Eyes is the seventeenth studio album by the English rock band Yes, released in November 1997 by Eagle Records in the UK and by Beyond Music in the US. Following the 1996 revival of the 1970s "classic" line-up of Yes, the band's relationship with management had broken down and keyboardist Rick Wakeman had once again left the band. While various other members dispersed, guitarist, keyboardist, and producer Billy Sherwood began developing new songs with band bassist and de facto leader Chris Squire to prevent the band from losing momentum and fully splitting. Yes' new management company suggested adding a couple of songs originally written for Squire and Sherwood's other band Conspiracy to help build up material for a new Yes studio album. With the writing and production sessions dominated by Squire and Sherwood, and with singer Jon Anderson, guitarist Steve Howe and drummer Alan White only involved later in the process, the writing and creative input of the latter three members was limited.

The album produced two singles for the band on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts in "Look at Me Now" and "Way Too Deep", which respectively reached numbers 30 and 55 on that chart. Martin John Feveyear born late '66 is a British record producer and audio engineer based in Seattle, Washington. Beginning as a singer-songwriter and musician, Feveyear soon began recording work for artists in both the UK and US before moving to Seattle at the age of 25. Together with Christian Fulghum, he opened Jupiter Studios in Seattle in 1996. He has since worked with artists and groups — producing, engineering, arranging, mixing, mastering and additional instruments — such as Mark Lanegan, Mudhoney, Duff McKagan's Loaded, Kings of Leon, The Presidents of the United States of America, Queens of the Stone Age, Amber Pacific, Jesse Sykes, Sirens Sister, Green Apple Quick Step, Nevada Bachelors, The Minus 5, and Brandi Carlile, among others.

Formed by Duff McKagan, formerly of Guns N' Roses, the band's first lineup consisted of guitarists Michael Barragan, formerly of Plexi, and Dez Cadena, formerly of Black Flag, as well as drummer Taz Bentley, formerly of The Reverend Horton Heat. The same year, they adopted the Loaded moniker before disbanding.

<i>House of Yes: Live from House of Blues</i> 2000 live album by Yes

House of Yes: Live from House of Blues is a live album and video by the English progressive rock band Yes, released on 25 September 2000 by Eagle Records in the United Kingdom and by Beyond Music in the United States. It is a recording of the band's performance at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on 31 October 1999 during their world tour supporting their eighteenth studio album The Ladder. By the time of the album's release, guitarist Billy Sherwood and keyboardist Igor Khoroshev were already out of the band, reducing Yes to a four-piece.

PopLlama Records is an independent record label founded by record producer Conrad Uno in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. After making several of his own demos in his basement studio, Uno would produce The Young Fresh Fellows' debut album The Fabulous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest at the band's request. When the band decided to release their own albums, Uno founded PopLlama Records to help, releasing their debut album as well as the follow-up Topsy Turvy. Uno would continue to produce, usually for friends, and release albums through PopLlama throughout the 1980s.
