Hip house, also known as rap house or house rap, is a musical genre that mixes elements of house music and hip hop music, that originated in both London, United Kingdom and Chicago, United States in the mid to late 1980s.

It is a down-tempo R&B love song about Carey wishing for the love and pain she feels from a break-up to turn into hate so she can get over the relationship. The song garnered a positive response from music critics, with many ranking it amongst the best on the album. The song's music video was directed by Brett Ratner in Malibu, and features Carey in a variety of swimsuits walking along the beach. She has performed the track live on Today and Late Show with David Letterman. "H.A.T.E.U." reached number 72 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

In the years since, her focus has never waned yet her aesthetic interests have moved toward abstraction along with her subject matter and memories. She lives and works in New York.
"Top Off" is a song recorded by American record producer DJ Khaled featuring American rappers Jay-Z and Future and American singer Beyoncé. The artists wrote the song with Joe Zarrillo who produced it with Khaled and Beyoncé. It was released on March 2, 2018, as the lead single from Khaled's eleventh studio album, Father of Asahd. Complex magazine ranked Beyoncé's verse on the song as the second best on the album; she performed it during her 2018 Coachella performance and subsequently included it in Homecoming: The Live Album (2019).
Coby Sey is a British musician, songwriter, artist, vocalist and NTS Radio host, born and based in Lewisham, South East London. He has worked with musicians Tirzah, Mica Levi, DELS, Kwes, Laurel Halo, Klein, Lafawndah and London Contemporary Orchestra, artists Hannah Perry and Maëva Berthelot and has remixed Kelly Lee Owens, Max de Wardener and Leifur James. In 2019 he had a featured session on BBC Radio 3 Late Junction in an improvised collaboration with PAN affiliated artist Pan Daijing. Sey is also a founder and member of a loose collective named Curl. Sey released his debut album, Conduit, on 9 September 2022 on AD 93 to critical acclaim.
